Sets New <strong>Triangle</strong> Record<br />

In 2016, The <strong>Jim</strong> <strong>Allen</strong> group had set <strong>the</strong> record <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Triangle</strong> for <strong>the</strong> first<br />

team to go over $300 million <strong>in</strong> closed volume. For 2017, <strong>the</strong>y set a goal<br />

to reach $400 million and surpassed it by br<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> $402 million on 1106<br />

units, a 20% growth. They made it a goal a few years ago to grow by 20%<br />

each year, and <strong>the</strong>y have cont<strong>in</strong>ued to do so while sett<strong>in</strong>g new records.<br />

This achievement ranked <strong>the</strong> <strong>Jim</strong><br />

<strong>Allen</strong> Group at #1 worldwide <strong>in</strong> units<br />

and production with<strong>in</strong> Coldwell<br />

Banker. With an average sale price <strong>of</strong><br />

$360K, that is quite an achievement.<br />

“The best th<strong>in</strong>g about <strong>the</strong> growth is<br />

we’ve ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>the</strong> same cont<strong>in</strong>uity<br />

throughout <strong>the</strong> team, same agent<br />

to agent care, we all just <strong>in</strong>creased<br />

our bandwidth. If one person can<br />

<strong>in</strong>crease just 1%, <strong>the</strong>n it helps <strong>the</strong><br />

whole,” says <strong>Jim</strong>.<br />

And that’s exactly how <strong>the</strong>y did it,<br />

<strong>in</strong>cremental growth over a long period<br />

<strong>of</strong> time. This translated <strong>in</strong>to each<br />

person do<strong>in</strong>g one or two more calls at<br />

<strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> day, push<strong>in</strong>g through <strong>the</strong> bad days,<br />

reach<strong>in</strong>g outside comfort zones to f<strong>in</strong>d a piece <strong>of</strong><br />

land to buy and develop, and just be<strong>in</strong>g more proactive<br />

on all fronts.<br />

“I th<strong>in</strong>k most <strong>of</strong> us, as people, work at about 20% <strong>of</strong><br />

our maximum efficiency, that’s where most people<br />

just feel comfortable when <strong>the</strong>y work. We can’t<br />

do <strong>the</strong> bus<strong>in</strong>ess we do at that level. We have to be<br />

more efficient than <strong>the</strong> norm. And it builds. When<br />

one person sees ano<strong>the</strong>r <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> trenches, putt<strong>in</strong>g it<br />

all <strong>in</strong>, <strong>the</strong>n it’s easier for <strong>the</strong>m to jump <strong>in</strong> and jo<strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong>m, and that creates a ripple effect,” says <strong>Jim</strong>.<br />

Increas<strong>in</strong>g efficiency requires one to cont<strong>in</strong>ually<br />

search for better ways <strong>of</strong> operat<strong>in</strong>g. This can mean<br />

keep<strong>in</strong>g up with new technology, <strong>in</strong>dustry trends,<br />

and th<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g outside <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> box. With 11 full-time<br />

employees and 25 <strong>in</strong>dividual agents,<br />

each person <strong>in</strong> The <strong>Jim</strong> <strong>Allen</strong> Group<br />

have found ways to become more efficient<br />

and improve operations.<br />

The team plans to cont<strong>in</strong>ue <strong>the</strong>ir 20%<br />

growth rate <strong>in</strong>to next year. However,<br />

<strong>the</strong> goal <strong>the</strong>y keep <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> back <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

m<strong>in</strong>ds is reach<strong>in</strong>g half a billion <strong>in</strong> closed<br />

volume. When <strong>the</strong>y first discussed it six<br />

years ago while produc<strong>in</strong>g $100 million,<br />

it seemed a long way <strong>of</strong>f, but now that<br />

<strong>the</strong>y’ve been ga<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g an average <strong>of</strong> $75<br />

million a year, it looks like <strong>the</strong>y could<br />

hit <strong>the</strong>ir goal <strong>in</strong> ano<strong>the</strong>r 2-3 years.<br />

“At <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> day, our bus<strong>in</strong>ess<br />

grows and has grown because we put<br />

customer service as paramount to<br />

what we’re do<strong>in</strong>g; no matter who we<br />

are work<strong>in</strong>g with, our end goal is to<br />

keep all <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir needs met. Our bus<strong>in</strong>ess<br />

grows more organically because<br />

<strong>the</strong>y are referr<strong>in</strong>g us to o<strong>the</strong>r people,<br />

and that is <strong>the</strong> direction we want it to<br />

flow <strong>in</strong>,” says <strong>Jim</strong>.<br />
