Quilting is my passion and my means of
escape. Having been interested in textiles
since an early age, I discovered quilting 13
years ago and have tried my hand at
many techniques. Since completing my
City and Guilds in Patchwork and Machine
Embroidery, I have leaned towards modern
and contemporary quilt designs, with my
main fulfilment being achieved with the
combination of machine embroidery and
quilting. I am fascinated by the extra
dimensions achieved with the final addition
of quilting and embroidery. I enjoy working
with a mix of hand dyed and hand painted
as well as commercial fabrics.
My current journey has been inspired by a
number of visits to the Cornish coast – the
colours of the sea and sky are constantly
changing whilst the ebb and flow of the
tide with the resulting textures, marks and
shadows on the beach, rocks and
landscape have influenced my design
ideas and provided a wealth of inspiration
for the final machine quilting and hand
stitching.
