The Tommy Atkins Centre...
Here at The Tommy Atkins Centre we are very much looking
forwards to our open day on 27th March, when we should have
a range of different Veterans services on site all eager to meet
member of our veteran community to advise them of the
different help they have on offer should they be needed in the
future. Also I’m extremely looking forwards to meeting our
patron, Jacqueline Hurley, who will be here to display her
current collection of fantastic work for those interested.
I’d like to take the opportunity also if I may for the generous
donation of several old mobile phones and chargers for us to
offer as necessary to keep communication lines open for those
who need them most.
Pablo is currently busy putting together some sponsorship
forms for a few of us brave souls who have agreed to take part
in his ‘Airbourne Challenge’, which we are planning to do in
late April. Myself and a few other ‘victims’ are going to be
doing a tandem parachute jump, and Pablo and a lot of others
are going to attempt the Fan Dance. A step too far for me,
though some of our volunteers have agreed to attempt both!!!!
I do hope you will all dig deep into your pockets to help us to
raise as much as we possibly can towards the running and
upkeep of our centre here.
Marie and I are currently putting together some paperwork to
support a new project we are about to roll out to here called
The First Field Dressing, and also eagerly awaiting the arrival
of some new volunteers who have offered their services to
assist us. Hope you’re all recovering from the cold snap we all
experienced last week, take care out there.
