APPRECIATION AWARD CONGRATULATIONS! Mokshi Virk Community Support Nahida Mansour Aziz Community Support Mokshi is the founder Director of Indo Canadian Arts & Culture Initiative (ICACI), a non-profit organization hosting and celebrating Womanhood Gala every year in March and this year they are celebrating 6th Annual International women’s day event in Mississauga. Mokshi believes in giving back to community and she is one of the few people who are willing to walk the extra mile for the benefit of the community. A successful Real Estate Broker with Homelife SilverCity Realty Inc, Mokshi is already a busy woman helping her clients buy and sell property and holding homebuyer’s seminars and workshops for her clients. She has grown her business primarily through partnerships and collaborations. Her expertise is in building relationships, networking, marketing and social media. Mokshi has built an incredible following in the South Asian community and has helped numerous people understand how to use their gifts and talents to give back to the community and find purpose in their lives. Nahida and her family immigrated into Canada in 1980 from Jordan. Nahida planned on becoming a school teacher when she discovered Psychology while working at Ryerson. In 1997 she earned her degree in Human Behaviour and also finished in 2002 Anthropology degree. She had been awarded three different honorary doctorates in Dubai, Jordan & Canada. Nahida is the founder and President of The Arab Women Club of Canada, which is a life renewal activity social club designed to equip Arab Canadian women to transform any aspect of their life through changing the beliefs of their heart. When asked why I entered such a field, my answer is simple, "If it helps women, I want to understand it!" My goal is to "help people experience wholeness: spirit, soul and body!" My motto is “Nothing is impossible to the willing mind & heart” Nadia Asfour Community Service Nadia was born in Amman, Jordan. After graduating from Business Administration, she got married and moved to Dubai with her husband where they started a family. They have four wonderful children. She worked in the banking industry in Dubai for 20+ years and immigrated into Canada in 2003. In Canada, she owned and operated two Hero Burger restaurants before she decided to open Nana Couture boutique in Streetsville, Mississauga. She came from a family who worked in textiles in Jordan for over 50 years and made her follow her passion for fashion. Through Nana Couture, she has helped many community events and fundraisers using the wedding gowns from her boutique for fashion shows. In November of 2017, Nadia was honoured to receive the “Business Development and Growth” Award at the Brilliant Minded Women Gala for her hard work within the community. Nadia feels fortunate and blessed that her business can give back to the community. She also feels very involved and connected to helping couples with a limited budget for their dream wedding. Neetu Gupta Community Service Neetu Gupta is a well known community activist and grassroots organizer in Markham. After settling in Markham, with her husband, Anoop and two children. Netisha and Tanya, in 2003, Neetu became avidly involved with local schools in her community. From assisting teachers in classrooms to helping with fundraising, Neetu has shown her sincere dedication to supporting local schools and this led to her election as Parent Council Chair at Donald Cousens Public School in 2008. Neetu’s drive for community engagement is shown through her passion to build strong relationships with members in her community. She works closely with politicians of all levels in Markham to deliver results that have positive impacts in her community. Neetu is a Real Estate Agent with Public Choice Realty and a Director at Durga Consultancy Services. Currently, Neetu Gupta serves as President of the Markham- Unionville Provincial Liberal Association and is working day in and day out to ensure electoral success in her riding. APPRECIATION AWARD CONGRATULATIONS! Nodira Yuldasheva Community Support Rita Duah Advocacy Nodira Yuldasheva, born 1960 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Graduated from Tashkent Medical Institute in 1982 and later persued PhD in Cardiology. She had a passion for medicine since very young age. Her mother was Obstetrician and grandfather was a surgeon, who served the World War II under extreme weather conditions. Nodira came to Canada in 2005 for 2 months and relocated permanently since 2007. She graduated from Cardiology Technologist Program in 2008 and just a year later opened her first Cardiology diagnostic center. She always had a compassion helping people and once the Center was working at a full capacity, with the growing waitlist, she expanded by opening additional clinics one after another. She currently operates 11 clinics in GTA area, with 15 physicians and 54 employees currently working in all locations. Nodira has primetime at the Russian radio in Toronto answering questions from a caller about healthcare. She is also a Board Member of the charity New Canadian Family Alliance which works to relieve poverty and face the problems of immigrant families in the GTA. Rania Younes Community Support Rania Younes holds a Bachelor in Arts in mass communication, specializing in public relations and advertising. Her education and her ability to inspire and motivate has crafted 20 years of progressive market research and marketing experience.For the past 7 years, social justice and economic opportunity became a key focus for Rania after being involved with various NGOs and her role as programs director at the Canadian-Arab Institute. Rania is also a member of the board of directors of the Arab Community Centre of Toronto, in addition, she is the co-founder of a grassroots initiative WelcomeHomeTO, that works closely with local community groups to articulate and bring attention to their settlement challenges. She also cofounded a professional networking organization with a mission to empower newcomers through professional development, civic action, mentorship and networking opportunities. She is a mother of three, who she is equally as involved in their education as much as she is committed to her career, and has gone beyond supporting their education, to receiving an A.M.I Primary Diploma from the Association Montessori International, which inspired her to initiative and animate community youth programs that tackle identity, integration and development conversations. Continue reading at next page > Ms. Rita Ama Duah is a dedicated mother and sole parent of three amazing children, one of whom presents with autism. For the past 12years she has been raising these by herself. Through it all, she managed to educate herself to graduate with Honour in Early Childhood Development Studies with University of Guelph Humber. She has worked as an Early Childhood Resource Educator for over 20years. Her career of working with children with young children and children with special needs has a span of 16years. Throughout her career, she has been an advocate for her special needs son, and two other children. She is a voice and advocates for parents who have children with young children and special needs children using her vast experience and expertise. Her work with children extends to her place of worship where she is the Sunday School Superintendent who manages the spiritual and physical nurturing of the young children the youth in the church. She demonstrates a volunteer spirit and has volunteered for many causes such as working for her church as a secretary for five years to manage the administrative affairs of the upkeep of the Church. She is currently the chairperson of the Women’s Affairs of Ghanaian Canadian Association of Ontario which speaks to the development of young girls, women, and youth of the community. Entertainer Elsa Hsieh Elsa Hsieh studied piano performing and teaching in Birmingham Conservatoire, UK. as well as her minor in flute & cell. She was awarded 1st prize in the Wales Tystysgrif piano competition in 1988. After moving to Canada in 1990, Elsa Hsieh is the awardee for both Absolutely Fabulous Women & Dancing Damsels in 2017. Elsa also formed her Dolce De Soleil Music group which has performed in many multicultural events for Canada 150.
