2016 ------------ Expansion of the machine program with a manual CNC supported cylindrical grinding 

machine W11CNC. 

2014 ------------ Expansion of the machine program with a simple CNC cylindrical grinding machine with 

manual mode. Optimal use for the production of individual parts, prototyping, training 

centers and smaller manufacturing companies. 

2012 ------------ Further development of the proven WUG21, 4-fold internal turret, new C-axis software for 

non-cylindrical grinding. Extension of all modules to the latest technology, all modules can 

be used universally. 

2008 ------------ The new building in Neckartailfingen with a production area of 3800 square meters is 

occupied. The expansion gave us even better production and development opportunities 

for customer-oriented solutions. Development of a new Torque B axis for fully automatic 

swiveling of the wheelhead to less than 2 seconds. 

2007 ------------ The world novelty WUG21 comes on the market. The revolutionary universal cylindrical 

grinding machine. - At the push of a button: 100% manual and 100% universal CNC 

cylindrical grinding machine. 

2004 ------------ An independent grinder program is created. Conventional, small CNC, large CNC and 

production cylindrical grinding machines. The ratio is 50% WEISS machines and 50% 

KARSTENS cylindrical grinders, retro and used. 

2003 ------------ The first fully automated CNC cylindrical grinding machines are developed and built for 

customers. The special feature of the CNC machine control system are the integrated 

loading devices and workpiece handling. 

2000 ------------ We now service 150 KARSTENS customers with maintenance, overhaul and retrofit. In 

addition, the company begins to develop its own cylindrical grinding machines, the W 27 is 

still in the program today. 

1999 ------------ After finishing turning, milling, flat and cylindrical grinding, CNC-Technik Weiss became the 

service point for KARSTENS cylindrical grinding machines. Company KARSTENS provides a 

CNC cylindrical grinding machine to reliably develop the CNC software. Bernd Weiss 

becomes the sole managing director and shareholder Renaming to CNC-Technik-Weiss GmbH. 

1993 ------------ Founding of Cech und Weiß GmbH after more than 15 years as a grinding technologist and 

machine developer at the grinding machine manufacturer KARSTENS. The focus is 

grinding on six cylindrical grinding machines.

solutions, we offer first-class repairs and services including (KARSTENS) retrofitting, training and spare 

parts supply.

Conventional universal cylindrical grinding machine with a small CNC control. 

The extension to the proven conventional W11 machine is the W11CNC. 

On the basis of the W11 machine we extended the machine with the same technical features 

by a small CNC control. 

Why using a W11CNC machine? 

The following processes are more time-consuming when using a conventional machine: 

W11CNC 

• Retracting from the workpiece 

• Approaching the diamond and infeeding 

• Setting the truing amount and the speed 

• Returning to the workpiece 

• Setting once again and compensation of the dressing value 

On the W11CNC machine such work processes are performed automatically. If the diamond 

and the workpiece are set, you can fully automatically dress, i.e. radii, chamfers, cones and many 

more. The truing amount will be compensated fully automatically. 

Other advantages of a W11CNC machine: 

• Grinding several diameters of a clamping process 

• Automatic retracting of the grinding wheel to a safe change position externally and internally 

• Grinding cones and contours in the path operation 

• The classical plunge/longitudinal grinding without CNC program can be performed further on 

“Grinding as with a conventional cylindrical grinding machine”

The proven KARSTENS cylindrical grinding machine concept is the basis of the Weiss W11 machine. 

KARSTENS has produced more than 4.500 K11 machines and to this date about 

1,000 machines are used worldwide. 

In 1994, we have started the overhaul or with services of KARSTENS K11 machines. 

Shortly thereafter, the complete new construction of this machine took place as a so-called 

classical retrofit. 

Since 2010, we offer our customers the W11 cylindrical grinding machines alternatively as a new 

machine or as a retrofit. The complete technique has been further developed and optimised for 

years, all components comply with most recent machine directives.

Due to the continuous technical further development, the W11 cylindrical grinding machine, is today 

available as a new machine with contemporary technology, which can be individually taken into 

consideration.
