At Kudos we take an uncommon approach to
loudspeaker design: we use music as our primary
tool. While working in the demanding field of live
sound engineering, Kudos’ Derek Gilligan discovered
that technical measurements – the traditional
basis for designing and assessing loudspeakers
- don’t reflect everything that we hear. The human
ear is a fine technical instrument and there’s no
substitute for extensive critical listening in a variety
of environments. Of course Kudos still use traditional
measurements, but only to investigate technical
issues within a design.
As well as a music-led approach to loudspeaker
design, three further qualities are key to the Kudos
difference:
• We only use exceptional quality components,
working with some of Europe’s finest engineers
to source the best available components at given
price points.
• We believe that when it comes to hi-fi circuitry and
connections, less is definitely more. We keep our signal
paths clean and clear by closely matching our excellent
quality components, so there’s no need for complex
interventions to counteract signal distortions.
• The best quality components demand respectful
treatment. We favour traditional, well-proven
engineering techniques, drawing on the wisdom of
ages to bring out the best in the latest technologies.
Every product is hand assembled in Kudos’ premises
in the north-east of England.
The result? The Kudos range of loudspeakers aims to
offer the most musically involving hi-fi experience
achievable, with each model setting a standard at its
respective price point.
