Folgefonna National Park<br />
Situated on the Folgefonna peninsula, the National Park covers Norway’s 3rd<br />
largest glacier. One entrance to the National Park is the Folgefonn Centre in<br />
Rosendal (see below). Activities in the Folgefonna National Park are offered<br />

Barony Rosendal<br />
Manor house from 1665. The smallest «castle» in Scandinavia, the only one<br />
of its kind in Norway and a major attraction in Western Norway. Among other<br />
things, the manor house is famous for its magnificent Renaissance garden<br />
and its rich calendar of cultural events, including concerts, courtyard theatre<br />
and art exhibitions. The garden cafe is situated beside the herb garden.<br />

The Folgefonn Centre<br />
New exhibition centre in the village of Rosendal with interactive exhibitions<br />
about the Folgefonna National Park, aquatic life in the Hardangerfjord, the<br />
world’s water cycle, sustainable use of natural resources, and climate change.<br />
Nature films are shown at the centre’s auditorium. The Boatbuilding Museum,<br />
the Skaaluren Collection, is also located in the centre and is included in the<br />
ticket. Tourist information at the front desk. The Centre is located near by the<br />
quay where the Hardangerfjord express boat from Bergen arrives.<br />
Halsnøy Monastry<br />
Remains of the Augustinian monastery built by Erling Skakke in 1164, located<br />
at the island Halsnøy in Kvinnherad. After the reformation, the sheriff and<br />
the bailiff was seated here. The farmhouse was built in 1841, and a garden<br />
and jetty are also included. The monastery courtyard is an arena for cultural<br />
events. Venue rental for groups up to 50 pax.<br />
Gallery G Guddal<br />
Modern gallery in historic surroundings, located at the charming farm<br />
Guddalstunet approx. 5 km from the centre of Rosendal. It is a Norwegian<br />
cultural heritage site. Galleri G Guddal was established in 1993. Many wellknown<br />
artists have had exhibitions in the gallery, in summer <strong>2018</strong> works of<br />
H.M. Queen Sonja will be shown. Gallery café serving lunch, coffee and cakes.<br />
Hiking trail from Rosendal to Guddal, 45 min. one way.<br />
Folgefonni Glacier Team<br />
Glacier Kayak: Folgefonni Glacier Team’s signature and most exclusive tour. Full-day<br />
(6-8 hours) adventure incl. kayak trip on a glacier lake and glacier hike. Meeting point in<br />
Rosendal. Necessary equipment is included, difficulty of the glacier hike will be tailored,<br />
ranging from calm, easy hiking to ice-climbing activity. Season: 01.07-01.10 Capacity: 2-12<br />

Bondhus Valley: Guided hike into the Bondhus Valley. Easy hike following an old route<br />
from 1822 that was used to transport ice from the glacier. Starting from Sundal in Mauranger.<br />

Team also offers other activities, starting from FONNA Glacier Ski Resort in Jondal: daily<br />

Guide company based in Rosendal, offering varied outdoor adventures as<br />
guided mountain, glacier or fjord tours. Also organising tailored events,<br />
courses, team building activities and more. Bike, canoe, kayak and boat<br />

Hikes<br />
The mountains surrounding Rosendal are very hiker friendly, with hikes of all<br />
levels of difficulty. You can start hikes from the hotel, without extra transport.<br />
Recommended hikes are:<br />
- Skålafjell, 502 masl, with a stop at the mountain pasture Kjeldestøl, 3-4 hrs.<br />
- Hike to lake Myrdalsvatnet, 374 masl, with canoe/kayak tour on the lake,<br />
2-3 hrs.<br />
- Mount Melderskin, 1426 masl, excellent view in all directions, 7-8 hrs.<br />
