The biggest dirt track stock car event in<br />
Devil’s Bowl Speedway history is taking<br />
shape, and the total weekend payout is setting<br />
records across the Northeast. The “Vermont<br />
200 Weekend” event on September 15-16 will<br />
offer in excess of $54,000 in total prize<br />
money, with more than $37,000 posted for the<br />
first-of-its-kind, 200-lap <strong>Sports</strong>man Modified<br />
race.<br />
The Vermont 200 is the longest, richest<br />
race ever created for <strong>Sports</strong>man Modifieds, as<br />
the open-wheel, center-seat, Chevrolet “602<br />
crate” engine cars will run for an all-time<br />
record $10,000 winner’s share. Big money<br />
extends though the field, as the runner-up<br />
earns $3,000, fifth place is worth $1,000, 10th<br />
place takes $500, and 30th place grabs $300.<br />
In addition, a whopping $10,300 will be<br />
available in lap leader bonus money.<br />
Traditionally a support division at most<br />
tracks in the Northeast, <strong>Sports</strong>man cars the<br />
popular headline class at Devil’s Bowl. The<br />
Vermont 200 – like all events at Devil’s Bowl<br />
Speedway – is open to drivers of all experience<br />
levels, though the cars are required to<br />
follow the budget-minded restrictions of the<br />
<strong>Sports</strong>man Modified division.<br />
“The <strong>Sports</strong>man teams deserve the spotlight,”<br />
Devil’s Bowl promoter Mike Bruno<br />
said. “They put on great racing and have the<br />
best car count at just about every dirt track in<br />

Lodge. Cadance and Abby represented Barre Lodge #1535 at the District Hoop Shoot in Windsor in<br />
January and both placed 2nd in their age group. They were unable to stay for the awards ceremony<br />
as they wanted to get back to Williamstown for their respective basketball games! Pictured above, L-R:<br />

First in Fitness Season a Success<br />
The First in Fitness junior swim-fit/swim<br />
team season was a huge success. Why?<br />
Because they all had fun! That was the goal<br />
for the inaugural swim-fit/swim team season.<br />
The team comprised nine swimmers: Carter<br />
Somani, Leland Perry, Kade McRitchie,<br />
Grace and Elena Noyes, Morgan Towne,<br />
August Howe, and Clara and Milly<br />
Launderville. They swam from November to<br />
late February, competed in swim meets, and<br />
improved on their strokes (freestyle, butterfly,<br />
breaststroke and backstroke).<br />
“It was amazing to see how far they’ve<br />
gone,” Head Coach Christian Avard said.<br />
“They finessed their strokes by leaps and<br />
bounds in three months. It was heart-warming<br />
to witness it.”<br />
The First in Fitness swim team, called the<br />
Barracudas, competed at two swim meets in<br />
Lisbon, NH and Springfield, VT. Swimmers<br />
loved to compete and there were four exciting<br />
relays at the Springfield meet. The swimmers<br />
enjoyed the relays the most this season.<br />
The 10&U medley and freestyle relays comprised<br />
Grace Noyes, Clara and Milly<br />
Launderville and Morgan Towne. The 14&U<br />
relays comprised Elena Noyes, August Howe,<br />
Leland Perry and Kade McRitchie.<br />
Avard was proud of what the team accomplished.<br />
He hopes to start a new swim team<br />
program at First in Fitness this summer. For<br />
