to be the game-winning goal past Hamline goalie McKenna
Hulslander in the first period of last Friday night’s NCAA Division
III Women’s hockey semifinal game at Kreitzberg Arena. Amanda’s
goal put the Norwich Women up 2-0. They advance to the NCAA
THANK YOU FOR SAYING
I SAW IT IN
On March 8th, Hoop Shooters Cadance and Abby Tenney along with family members visited Barre Elks
Lodge. Cadance and Abby represented Barre Lodge #1535 at the District Hoop Shoot in Windsor in
January and both placed 2nd in their age group. They were unable to stay for the awards ceremony
as they wanted to get back to Williamstown for their respective basketball games! Pictured above, L-R:
Cadance Tenney, Cindy Wedding, Barre Lodge Youth Activities Chair, and Abby Tenney. Winners of the
District shoot advanced to the State Hoop Shoot, hosted by Barre Lodge. Winners in each division
advanced to the Regional Shoot, which will be held in Maine on March 24th, with their expenses paid
by the Elks. Winners at the Regional Shoot will represent New England at the National Hoop Shoot in
Chicago, again with all expenses for the participant and family paid. National Winners have their
names inscribed on a plaque at the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Ma. For more information
on the Elks Hoop Shoot Program and other youth activities, please call the Lodge at 479-9522.
First in Fitness Season a Success
The First in Fitness junior swim-fit/swim
team season was a huge success. Why?
Because they all had fun! That was the goal
for the inaugural swim-fit/swim team season.
The team comprised nine swimmers: Carter
Somani, Leland Perry, Kade McRitchie,
Grace and Elena Noyes, Morgan Towne,
August Howe, and Clara and Milly
Launderville. They swam from November to
late February, competed in swim meets, and
improved on their strokes (freestyle, butterfly,
breaststroke and backstroke).
“It was amazing to see how far they’ve
gone,” Head Coach Christian Avard said.
“They finessed their strokes by leaps and
bounds in three months. It was heart-warming
to witness it.”
The First in Fitness swim team, called the
Barracudas, competed at two swim meets in
Lisbon, NH and Springfield, VT. Swimmers
loved to compete and there were four exciting
relays at the Springfield meet. The swimmers
enjoyed the relays the most this season.
The 10&U medley and freestyle relays comprised
Grace Noyes, Clara and Milly
Launderville and Morgan Towne. The 14&U
relays comprised Elena Noyes, August Howe,
Leland Perry and Kade McRitchie.
Avard was proud of what the team accomplished.
He hopes to start a new swim team
program at First in Fitness this summer. For
