<strong>Product</strong> designations<br />

The product designations are the names customarily used<br />

in contact <strong>line</strong> construction. It cannot be avoided, however,<br />

that different product types may be listed under the same<br />

nominal designation. To ensure unambiguous identification,<br />

each part is given a machine-readable factory designation<br />

which begins with the preliminary number 8WL <strong>and</strong> consists<br />

of a four-digit number followed by a hyphen <strong>and</strong> a further<br />

digit (or a number <strong>and</strong> a letter). These identify the various<br />

used in contact <strong>line</strong> construction. The most important<br />
