Monday 5 October
The Longest Reign,
Windsor Castle
Join us for a private view of an
exhibition celebrating Her Majesty
The Queen becoming the longest
reigning British Monarch. The event
will be held in the prestigious Dean's
Cloister in St George's Chapel (by kind
permission of the Dean and Canons of
Windsor). Before visiting the exhibition,
there will be an opportunity to
attend Evensong in the spectacular
St. George’s Chapel, with its famous
Choir. Tickets include a glass of wine
and canapés.
Saturday 14 November
Hot Chocolate Run,
Dorney Lake
This 5k run takes place on a very
flat, smooth track and is completely
traffic free. All runners are rewarded
with not only a great setting, but
also a complimentary hot chocolate
at the end.
Sunday 29 November
Santa Dash at
Swinley Forest, Bracknell
Help us create the biggest sea of santas
in Berkshire and take part in the Thames
Hospice Santa Dash. With a range of
challenging and family events, there’s
something for everyone – including
the dog! Choose from the 10k and 15k
Santa Cycle or walk, run or jog the 5k
Santa Dash.

Thursday 3 December
Wellington Carol Concert, Wellington College
We are delighted to announce that our
popular annual Christmas event will be
hosted by TV Goodies star and comedian,
Tim Brooke-Taylor. As always it will also
be jam packed with musical talent and
guest readers. Taking place in the
stunning Chapel at Wellington College,
this unmissable start to the Christmas
festivities features two local schools and
the award winning Royal Harmonics –
one of the UK’s leading acapella groups.
Tickets include a glass of mulled wine
and mince pies. Check out our website

Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December
Grim Challenge,
Aldershot
Grim is an 8 mile, off-road challenge
held over the Army’s vehicle testing
tracks. You can expect to run, wade
or crawl, over hills, logs and railway
tracks and through mud, lots of
water and even a bog!
Sunday 6 and Tuesday 8 December
Light up a Life at Thames
Hospice in Windsor
Although the festive season is a time
of celebration, for many it is also
a time of reflection. Light up a Life
helps families and friends to celebrate
the lives of loved ones with guest
readings and the opportunity to
light a candle in their memory. Join
us this Christmas and remember
someone important to you.
Whether you sign up to one of our events, join a local fundraising group or organise your own event, there are lots of
ways you can raise money for us. The important thing is to choose something that works for you.
We have a wide range of materials to help, including fundraising packs, sponsorship forms, template posters and advice on how

Why do you support Thames Hospice?
I was a nurse at the local hospital
for many, many years and knew
about Thames Hospice because of
its excellent palliative care services.
Before Thames Hospice there was
nowhere else for patients to go.
I was also familiar with Thames
Hospice as I used to attend some
of its local events and the charity
has helped a couple of my friends.
How did you find out you had won?
I had won £10 a few times before my
first prize win. In fact when I opened
my letter I thought it was another
£10 win, then I realised the number
had a couple of extra zeros!
I couldn’t believe it. I was thrilled.
£52 could pay for three hours of
a senior nurse to assess a patient at
our inpatient unit.
£26 could pay for a three hour
Hospice at Home visit to allow
a family member to rest whilst
caring for a loved one.
£13 could pay for an hour’s
physiotherapy assessment to get
a patient ready to go home.
£4.34 could pay for one day’s
freshly cooked meals for one
patient in our Inpatient Unit.
How will you spend your money?
So far I have put it in the bank!
However I am planning on going
away with my daughter for a special
holiday to celebrate my 80th birthday.
