Kyles bought Coreys Princess in
Ireland as a green four-year-old.
“She got fatter and we then
realised that she was in-foal.
We now have her three-yearold
son at home,” said Tabitha’s
mother Tanya.
Eleven-year-old Olivia Sponer
lives in London — “next door to
Olympia” — and commutes to
Windsor to ride her ponies. Olivia,
who has joint British, American
and German nationality, has
produced Trefriw Eros from
bronze league classes to top level.
“She just missed out on HOYS
twice last year, so we’re hoping to
be in it to win it this season,” said
her mother Jennifer.
The 138cm equivalent was
another great competition,
although Rachel Proudley could
probably have done without
some of the excitement. In the
Tabitha Kyle (Lissduff Royal) tops the winter 138cm second round
nine-pony jump-off, she and
Buttons Two parted company
and the pony enjoyed herself
throughout an impromptu looseschooling
session that included
some of the jump-off fences!
The finish was fought out by
already qualified combinations.
Jake Myers and The Agent set the
ball rolling with a terrific clear
and when Claudia Moore just
missed the time on Sonas Barney,
it looked as though they had done
enough. But back came Claudia
with one of the rounds of the show
on Tullineaskey Fear Deas to win
by more than half a second.
Claudia added her results
here to first and second places at
South View and a runner-up spot
in Scotland.
“I messed up there because I
was four seconds late starting my
jump-off round,” she confided.
The top RIHS ticket went to
Tabitha Kyle, whose round on
Playboy Van De Zoetewei was
good enough for fourth.
“He’s only seven, so I went
for a clear and hoped I’d done
enough,” she said.
Fifth-placed Luli Loveridge
and Arrow Head Quiver just
missed out the previous day and
