SMH – Side loaded Modular filter House
An inlet system’s purpose is to purify the
air and protect the turbomachinery from harmful
external impact.
The installation of a correctly adapted inlet
system prolongs the life of the installation, cuts
operating costs and raises the machine’s
efficiency, while reducing the risk of costly
unplanned downtime.
With a system adapted for every
environment, Pro-Solution TM can ensure the best
possible protection to your turbomachinery, from
polluted industrial area to humid and salt-laden
coastal conditions.
The innovative modular housings are
bolted for minimal engineering, easy transportation
and installation. The efficient design - with no
welding and reduced hardware - allow for a cost
competitive solution.
Small and light, they can be installed on roof or mounted on walls. All systems are build from modular
parts and allows for multiple configurations to meet customer design requirements and space constraints.
Our inlet systems are constructed in coated carbon steel or stainless steel.
Features
• protects against dirt;
• increases engine efficiency;
• cuts maintenance costs;
• reduces nuisance noise;
• high efficiency – cleaner environment;
• flexible design;
• positive sealing of filters;
• side loading of filter elements.
SMH Design: The SMH Series is a filtration system designed for general applications. It’s made from
painted carbon steel or stainless-steel material with a thickness of 1/8”. There is no welding and the modular
housing it’s assembled using only rivets nuts and extruded butyl gasket (250H or equivalent).
SMH Applications: The SMH Series filtration system is designed to be installed for gas turbine enclosures;
either ventilation or combustion. Moreover, it’s applications extend up to reciprocating compressors as well.
Since it can hold from 1 filter up to 60 filters, this housing makes an excellent solution.
Figure 1. Optional filtration stages
Optimized filtration
The static system provides a barrier against the smallest and most
corrosive particles which has been proven to significantly reduce
engine degradation from corrosion and fouling. The 2 stages
configuration is composed of a first stage of weather hoods or droplet
separator and a final high efficiency stage. The 3 stages configuration
includes a panel pre-filter.
The optional standard pre-filter are Camfil products 30/30 GT, CSMP,
CamFlo . The 30/30® has been setting the standard for G4/MERV 8
panel prefilters. The combination of the unique media, robust
construction and pleating technology makes the 30/30 a low pressure
drop prefilter that performs well in all situations.
Used primarily to extend the service life of final filters, the 30/30 GT
exclusive media blend offers low initial pressure drop and high dust
holding capacity.
The CamGTR 4V-300, CamGTR 3V-600 final filters are available in
F7/F8 or F9 or MERV 13/14/15 (per EN779:2014 / ASHREA 52.2.) Its
high efficiency blocks the small corrosive particles and its vertical
pleating combined with unique patented open hot melt separators
facilitate water drainage and stop water from being carried over to the
turbomachinery.
Other filter options are available such as the Opakfil GT for
environment where humidity is not a concern.
Configurations
The SMH comes in different pre-set modules. From 1Hx1W up to 3Hx3W for a total of up to 60 filter
elements. For example, the one depicted in the picture bellow is 2Hx2W.
Louvers
Louvers are very similar to dampers; the difference
being made by the fact that the slats are fixed at production
and their angle is not adjustable later on.
Louvers serve a critical need to allow air flow
through openings in air filtration systems while keeping out
unwanted elements such as water, dirt, and debris. The
basic considerations for selecting louvers are Louver Free
Area, Water Penetration, and Resistance to Airflow
(Pressure Loss).
Selecting the right product for the application is
important to meeting performance needs.
Built using no welding technology, cut and bend only this ensures:
• Lower manufacturing costs
• Easier and less expensive to transport
• Safer and more eco-friendly installation
• Easier to handle and unload
• Easier to repair.
Depending on the client needs, louvers can be made from aluminium,
steel or stainless-steel.
The following example compares two louvers for a wall opening size of 48" wide x 48" high with different
performance characteristics:
Dampers – Back-draft dampers
A pressure relief damper is a backdraft damper
with an adjustable start-open pressure. This damper is
capable of maintaining a relatively constant pressure at
various airflows and which closes upon a decrease in
differential pressure.
Pressure relief dampers do not immediately open
fully upon reaching their start-open pressure. They maintain
tight leakage to approximately 60% of the start-open
pressure and have a relatively flat flow control somewhat
above the start-open pressure. Counterbalance weights
are mounted externally for easy adjustment and balancing
in the field.
A pressure relief damper is generally used as a
safety or controlling device. In a duct section, it would be
mounted on the duct to either relieve an unexpected
overpressure or to relieve negative pressure downstream.
Backdraft dampers are used in ventilation systems to allow airflow in one direction and prevent
airflow in the opposite direction. A pressure relief damper is developed with an elevated and adjustable startopen
pressure while providing the backdraft function.
When selecting the correct damper for your application, you need to know:
• System velocity and back pressure requirements
• Mounting orientation and airflow direction
• Mounting configuration (inserted into duct/opening or flange mounted)
• Damper operation (gravity)
• Start-open pressure
Built using no welding technology this ensures:
• Lower manufacturing costs
• Easier and less expensive to transport
• Safer and more eco-friendly installation
• Easier to handle and unload
• Easier to reconfigure and repair.
