aera® 796 TOUCHSCREEN GPS w/ 3D-VISION
Garmin’s most visionary portable GPS yet, the aera 796 features a unique
3DVision perspective view of the topography beneath and around your
aircraft. With a choice of portrait or landscape orientation, the aera 796’s
bright 7-inch diagonal high-definition sunlight-readable display makes this
detailed mapping easy to see in any lighting conditions.
aera 796 fulfills the roles of either a Class I or Class II electronic flight bag,
greatly reducing the need to rely on paper charts in the cockpit. Initial U.S.
georeferenced VFR sectional and IFR enroute charts come preloaded that
show your aircraft’s position overlaid directly on the relevant chart. When
in IFR map mode, the 796 can display Victor airways, jet routes, minimum
enroute altitudes and leg distances. Initial georeferenced Garmin FliteCharts
provide approach charts and airport diagrams, while FBO, ground
transportation, lodging and other facility information for most U.S. airports
are also available through preloaded AOPA Airport Directory Data.
With wireless Blutooth connection to GDL-50 or GDL-51 ADS-B receivers,
aera 796 offers access to high resolution, subscription free weather and
traffic, while GDL-52 provides access to a Sirius/XM weather/entertainment
subscription. All of this data can be overlaid directly onto navigation and
topgraphic map databases.

The aera 660 aviation portable puts the latest Garmin technology in
the palm of your hand and is packed wit capabilities. As a dedicated
navigator, it quickly and reliably acquires GPS and GLONASS satellites
and combines advanced navigation tools with rich, interactive, aviation
maps-all on a bright, sunlight-readable 5-inch diagonal capacitive
touchscreen display that can be oriented in landscape or portrait modes.
The graphical Terrain page offers both overhead and vertical Profile views
of the topography beneath you. Switch to IFR map mode to display and
navigate on high or low enroute airways, and use your touchscreen map
cursor to reference MEAs (Minimum Enroute Altitudes) and distances
between intersections. Revolutionary 3D Vision technology gives you a
virtual 3-D behind-the-aircraft perspective view of surrounding terrain.
Plus, with its forward-looking terrain avoidance capability, the aera
660 predicts in advance where towers or obstacles may exist and
shades the landscape with amber or red overlays to indicate those areas. Using Bluetooth connectivity, the aera 660
easily interfaces with Garmin GDL-39, GDL-50 series and GTX-345 transponder, you can access and display ADS-B
subscription-free weather and advanced traffic alerts, including TargetTrend relative motion tracking. You can also
access Sirius/XM weather using the GDL-51 or GDL-52 portable receivers.
