reputably held performances in the past. From Wonderland to 

Neverland, the beautiful Ocklynge Manor is where Peter Pan 

illustrator, Mabel Lucie Attwell lived. Now a B&B, this 300 

year old building is one of Eastbourne’s oldest houses.

of the 20 th Century’s most pioneering artists, writers and 

thinkers. From here journey to Rodmell near Lewes to National 

Trusts’ Monk’s House, a tranquil 17 th Century weatherboarded 

cottage where the novelist Virginia Woolf lived from

Opened in 1883, our oldest theatre, the Royal Hippodrome Theatre has 

a lively programme of shows for 2018 with an Easter pantomime, summer 

show and more. Join legendary British entertainers Bobby Davro and Kenny

the quality, comfort, cleanliness, services and facilities of an

accommodation schemes, you may find ‘Star Ratings’ (1-5 stars)

Assessment Services (if the hotel or guest accommodation has 

elected to join either scheme). These ratings are awarded by 

applying the quality standards for each scheme with different 

schemes for hotels and guest accommodation and with the

HOTELS 

Hotels are larger properties and are managed on a formal 

and structured basis. They must offer evening meals and be

be en-suite or have a private bathroom. They will normally have a 

fully manned reception and offer a fuller range of food, beverage 

and leisure facilities. Some hotels also offer entertainment.
