CHILDREN’S LIBRARY April 2018 PROGRAMS. All programs are free and
registration is not required, except where noted. Please join us on Sat., April
7th to welcome our new director, Ruth Barefoot. The reception will be in the
Community Meeting Room at 2pm. PRESCHOOL STORYTIME: Ages 3-5
and their grown-up - Stories, songs and crafts. Meets in the Children’s Dept.
TIME FOR TOTS: Held in the Library Community Meeting Room at 10:30 am
on Wed. and Fri. Designed for children birth-36 months and their caregivers.
LEGOS IN THE LIBRARY: Join us every Sun. 1-3pm in the Activity Room
to make your own Lego creation. Children ages 5-12, younger is fine, too,
when accompanied by an adult. Do not bring any Legos from home. TALES
FOR TAILS: Join us in the Children’s Dept on Sat., April 14th, 1-2pm to read
to a therapy dog. It’s a great way to practice your reading and meet a new,
furry friend! NEW BOOK GROUPS! We have a Book Group for Elementary
School readers in 5th grade April 23rd • We also have a Book Group for

for info! TEEN WRITING GROUP: For high school age writers! We meet
twice a month in the Community Meeting Room and you can come every
time or drop-in. April 4th, 18th. STORIES & STRETCHES: Our newest story
time pairs creative movement with stories and songs. Join us for simple
yoga poses, stretches and lots of fun. April 28th. TEEN CLUB: Games like
“Minute to Win It,” crafts, music, book discussions, volunteer opportunities
and of course snacks are all part of Teen Club. Try something new April

April 14th features a unique marine science theme for you and your child
to explore. Teen NASA Program - Middle and High School students join
us April 19th for a program with an astrophysicist! He will teach us about
the most powerful explosions in the universe!
Anacortes Sister Cities Association presents “Rudy Gahler - Morocco
and the Sahara” at 7pm on Thurs., April 5, at the Anacortes Library. Rudy
will share his experiences traveling by camel and land-rover around and
through the Altas mountains. Cities visited include Marrakesh and Fes. If

The Friends of the Anacortes Library’s Art Committee is launching a new
art exhibit program in the community room of the Anacortes Public Library.
Artists residing in the 98221 zip code are eligible to submit digital photos
of their two dimensional art for consideration. Send an e-mail to folartcommittee@gmail.com
requesting info on how to apply. The first exhibition will
be May 10 thru Sept. 13. Submittal deadline is April 20, 2018.
Meet Jim Lynch, author of the 2018 Whidbey Reads selection “Before
the Wind” at the Oak Harbor Yacht Club on Thurs., April 19 at 3pm. Refreshments
provided. Book sales and signing follow the program. Funded
by the Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation and Whidbey Island Friends of the
Library groups.
