Realm Prospectus 15 Celebrate the Arts With an all-time-high emphasis on the arts in Oakland, connecting with the arts community will have significant impact for church relations. Business While lack of financial resources often allow for greater innovation creating streams of revenue can help innovation reach further. This will be the primary strategy for business as missions. Service Jesus said that our Father who is in Heaven would be glorified by the doing of good works. It is essential to the shining of our lights in the world. Housing Housing has to be part of the longterm plan to be rooted in Oakland. Combining this with our business efforts is critical. Arts Oakland is designated as one of America's top twelve art communities, recognizing Downtown (including Uptown), Chinatown, Old Oakland, and Jack London Square as communities "that have most successfully combined art, artists and venues for creativity and expression with independent businesses, retail shops and restaurants, and a walkable lifestyle to make vibrant neighborhoods." Strategically engaging the arts communities via meaningful art shows, art support groups and providing a creative and art filled atmosphere via art galleries and intentional aesthetics must play a major role in ministry expression. Business Looking for ways to invest in a business that could serve our community will be a seamless way to engage those in the marketplace. Whether this is a coffee shop, a business acquisition or a gym, it will take much prayer and wisdom, as well as willing investors and gospel intentionality. Service Creating Healthy rhythms of service will be one of our most important strategies for reaching the 2 nd and 3 rd districts of Oakland. Doing this in direct response to community and civic request is the most effective way to serve meaningfully. Housing Another investment project critical to bay area needs, including Christians, is the housing dilemma. As stated above, Oakland is experiencing significant rising and declining social narratives. As the social landscape continues to transform Oakland due to the increased momentum of gentrification, developers race to claim strategically underdeveloped places. The church is one of the few institutions that can ethically help to bring about urban renewal, preserving those values that make Oakland uniquely Oakland while spreading the Gospel message. .
