support of Merranti behind you. You<br />
can attract clients who would prefer<br />
to work with a larger company rather<br />
than an individual as well as<br />
receiving support from our network<br />

Attracting a broader client base…at<br />
higher rates<br />
With our established reputation,<br />
you will find attracting new business<br />
easier and you will be able to sell<br />
your services at company rates. Yet,<br />
your time is still your own and you<br />
will only pay fees on the work that<br />
you complete.<br />
Taking care of your marketing and<br />
paperwork<br />
You won’t need to worry about<br />
marketing or updating your<br />
brochures, website or social media<br />
channels as we manage this all<br />
centrally. You won’t have to answer<br />
your phone either – as we provide a<br />
telephone call and messaging<br />
service. We will also invoice your<br />
clients and chase any outstanding<br />
debts on your behalf.<br />

HOW THE PROGRAMME WORKS<br />
Our programme offers a fresh, new approach to business consulting<br />
Importantly, Merranti Consulting is not a franchise. In<br />
franchising, companies generally offer one service to potential<br />
customers in a fixed area. A large upfront investment<br />
is also required to get the business up and running.<br />
From that point onwards, you are on your own and you<br />
don’t receive any<br />
additional support. Merranti Consulting works in a completely<br />
different way.<br />
No upfront costs<br />
You do not need to pay any large upfront costs to join us.<br />
You only pay fees on the work that you complete.<br />
Harnessing your expertise<br />
The franchise model is based around what the company<br />
wants to sell to you.<br />
Conversely, our business is based around our clients’<br />
needs.<br />
We understand that clients are looking for a specific skill<br />
set to solve a particular business requirement – such as<br />
business strategy, IT or marketing. So, we are keen to<br />
recruit<br />
Consultants with specialisms in particular areas.<br />
With Merranti Consulting, your geographical location is<br />
not high on our priority list – provided that it is feasible<br />
for you to hold face-to-face meetings with your clients.<br />
Working across the UK<br />
We do not work in specific geographic areas so, in theory,<br />
you could work anywhere in the UK as a Merranti Consultant.<br />
We do, however, limit the number of Consultants we<br />
employ with particular skill sets in specific areas. So, for<br />
example, if we already employ an experienced Marketing<br />
Consultant in North London then we would not recruit<br />
another Consultant in a similar role within the same area<br />
– unless the demand from clients was particularly high.<br />
Working together<br />
With Merranti Consulting, you can draw on the expertise<br />
and knowledge of our network of Consultants and collaborate<br />
on work with others as needed. This gives you<br />
the ability to take on larger projects, requiring more than<br />
one individual,<br />
without the burden of taking on additional resources.<br />
Clear, straightforward fees<br />
Our fee is based on a percentage of the invoice amount<br />
(excluding expenses) and it is calculated on a sliding<br />
scale. So, the more you earn the lower the percentage<br />
amount charged. When you are not working, you do not<br />
have to pay any fees.<br />

INTERVIEW WITH JASON FUDGE MANAGING DIRECTOR<br />
Jason Fudge is Managing Director of Merranti Consulting and CEO of Merranti Group. Here, he talks about<br />
what gave him the idea for the company and what differentiates his business from the competition.<br />
How did Merranti Consulting come about?<br />
When I left my last job, my employer offered me an<br />
interim consultancy role. I enjoyed the freedom of being<br />
self-employed and the variety of work.<br />
Shortly afterwards, I was approached by a company for<br />
advice on change management. I submitted my<br />
proposal but the company commented on my costs as a<br />
freelance Consultant (with no expenses).<br />
Following negotiation, we settled on a reduced fee.<br />
I quickly realised that clients were hesitant about<br />
employing an individual fearing that a freelancer could<br />
quickly move on or get another job. This gave me the idea<br />
for Merranti Consulting.<br />
What differentiates you from other Consultants?<br />
Unlike many Consultants, we have a permanent base with<br />
a number of offices and we provide central call handling<br />
and messaging services – so that no prospective business<br />
calls go unanswered.<br />
We’ve already built up a solid reputation in the<br />
consultancy field and we have achieved a first-page<br />
Google ranking for the term ‘business consultant’. Hence,<br />
we are able to offer our Consultants a significant online<br />
profile.<br />
What sort of clients do you work with?<br />
We work with clients across all market sectors – involving<br />
both small and medium businesses. We’ve worked for<br />
some well-known names, such as Aviva Insurance and a<br />
national lottery company, as well as many new start-ups<br />
and many Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).<br />
What sort of experience do you need as a Business<br />
Consultant?<br />
We are looking for Consultants with a track record in the<br />
business world – such as former business owners,<br />
directors or Department Managers . A Consultant may<br />
also be a specialist with expertise in areas such as IT, HR<br />
or marketing.<br />
Most importantly, we are looking for people who<br />
understand how a business works and how people fit<br />
into this equation. Most business issues can be fixed,<br />
however, it often requires someone who can zero in on<br />
the problem and then introduce changes, in a diplomatic<br />
manner, to rectify the issue.<br />
Can you tell me about your typical working week?<br />
Each week is different. I spend a lot of time meeting with<br />
clients. This week, I have met with local council<br />
representatives on behalf of a client to negotiate office<br />
space in a large development and I’ve met with another<br />
client to launch their new website and discuss their<br />
marketing strategy. I have spoken with clients in New<br />
York, Switzerland and on the Isle of Man.<br />
I am in control of my own schedule and, if I want to have<br />
an afternoon with my children, I can take some time off.<br />

WORKING WITH US THE SMALL PRINT<br />
At Merranti Consulting, we want to make working with us as straightforward<br />
as possible – with our clear, simple and hassle-free terms and conditions.<br />
No long-term commitment<br />
With Merranti Consulting, you will not be committed to<br />
a long-term contract. All that we ask is for one month’s<br />
notice and full payment of any outstanding fees during<br />
this period.<br />
Flexible workload<br />
As a Merranti Consultant, you will be in control of your<br />
workload and the amount that you charge. We do ask<br />
that you place all of your work through us. If you have<br />
existing work projects that you would like to continue<br />
with, this can be arranged at preferential rates.<br />
Company ethos<br />
We require all of our Consultants to uphold our<br />
com- pany ethos, which ensures that clients receive<br />
trusted and independent advice at all times – our policy is<br />
to tell the client what they need to hear rather than what<br />
they want to hear.<br />
Additionally, we have standard terms on dress code and<br />
time keeping.<br />
Sub-contracting<br />
You will be able to sub-contract Merranti Consulting work<br />
to other parties – by prior agreement. This helps us to<br />
maintain our high professional standards and ensures<br />
that the appropriate contract documentation is in place.<br />
Insurance<br />
Our Consultants are expected to hold relevant insurance<br />
cover – which we can organise on your behalf (at a<br />
cost of approximately £350). This is the only cost that you<br />
will be asked to pay and the policy will be in your name.<br />
Payments<br />
You can agree payment terms with your clients, although<br />
our standard terms are 14 days.<br />
We operate a weekly payment cycle and so, once your<br />
client has settled an invoice, we will pay you on the<br />
following Thursday. Our fee is also settled at this time.<br />
Lastly, any payment advances will be held in our<br />
Consultant account until the work has been completed<br />
and authorised by your client.<br />
Clients<br />
If you decide to leave, you can still retain your clients.<br />
Alternatively, if you cannot provide ongoing services, we<br />
can continue to work with these clients as before.<br />
Fees<br />
Our fee structure is based on a sliding scale as detailed in<br />
the fee chart. there are no fixed monthly or annual<br />
charges; a fee is only payable on work that you’ve<br />
completed.<br />
These fees apply to all projects except for any business<br />
leads/work that we have directly passed on to you. We<br />
will charge a flat rate of 20% for this work.<br />
