temporarily.

NORTON ANTIVIRUS 2009 

• Click on Start Menu. 

• Select “All Programs” and open Norton Antivirus program from the 

list. 

• Click on Settings. 

• Search for “Computer Scans” section and toggle to “OFF” next to 

automatic scan. 

• Select on “OK” to save the settings. 

• Now Antivirus will not work until user enables it again. 



• Right-click on the Norton icon located in the lower right corner of the PC. 

• You will see a list of options. 

• Among the list, look for “Norton Protection Center” and hover on it. 

• Then select “Norton Internet Security” from the list of options visible after 

hovering. 

• Click on settings. 

• In this menu, you can disable Norton Antivirus. 

• Follow the same procedure to enable Norton Antivirus again after the work 

is completed. 



• Locate the Norton Antivirus icon in the lower right corner. 

• Right-click on the icon. 

• Hover on the option “Norton Antivirus Options” from the list of 

options appeared after clicking on the icon. 

• Select the “Miscellaneous” option. 

• See for the option “Turn office Plug-in on” and un-tick the check mark 

next to it. 

• Norton Antivirus is disabled now until you tick the checkmark. (which 

enables the antivirus again after ticking the checkmark) 


NORTON ANTIVIRUS 2002 & 2004 

• Click on Start Menu. 

• Select “All Programs” and then select Norton Antivirus application. 

• You will see the settings of Norton. 

• Click on Options and look for “Miscellaneous” from the “other” section. 

• See for the option “Enable Office Plug-in” and un-tick the checkmark. 

• Click on “OK” which saves the settings. 

• Restart the computer and now the anti-virus is disabled.
