First of all, I wish to extend to you all a very<br />
warm and hearty welcome to the Parents'<br />
Day & Prize Giving of our Primary School.<br />
It is indeed a privilege to welcome our Chief<br />
Guests Mr. Shanmugam Gobinath and Mrs<br />
Selvarani Gobinath. Mr Gobinath was a<br />
student of our <strong>college</strong> from 1966 to 77.<br />
During his school days he actively participated<br />
in the curricular and extra-curricular programs.<br />
He was a Prefect and captained the<br />
Thompson House. He represented the<br />
<strong>college</strong> in Athletics, Basketball and Hockey.<br />
He was also President of the Boarders'<br />
Union. During his short stint as the staff of<br />
our <strong>college</strong> from 1982 – 1984, he coached<br />
Hockey. Having entered into the teaching<br />
career in 1984, he has served as Teacher<br />
Advisor at the Department of Education and<br />
the Resource Person at the National Institute<br />
of Education. He is presently serving as the<br />
Asst. Director of Education in Walpane,<br />
Nuwara-Eliya. We are grateful to you sir, for<br />
honoring our invitation to be the chief guest,<br />
and for taking the time off from your busy<br />
schedule to come to grace this function.<br />

<br />
We extend a warm welcome to Mrs<br />
Selvarani Gobinath, who has also been<br />
serving in the field of education. We are<br />
grateful to her for she has been gracious<br />
enough to be present to give away the prizes<br />
to our students.<br />
We thank God for the year under review,<br />
which has had a variety of activities.<br />
STUDENTS<br />
There are 468 students in the Primary<br />
School: 269 in the Lower Primary (Grade 1-<br />
3), and 199 in the Upper Primary (Grades<br />
4&5). There are 23 Monitors. Head Prefect:<br />
E. Thavasuthan, and Deputy Head Prefect: S.<br />
Jerome Sinthujan<br />
TEACHERS<br />
24 teachers serve in our section.<br />
Trained Teachers: 7<br />
Graduates: 4 (Two teachers with Teacher<br />
Training)<br />
Advanced Level & other qualifications: 13<br />
STUDIES<br />
Grade 5 Scholarship Examination <strong>2012</strong><br />
107 students sat for the exam and 13<br />
students qualified, the percentage being<br />
12.14%. Sixty two students obtained above<br />
100 marks (percentage 57.94%).<br />
87% of the students (Ninety-three students)<br />
obtained above 70. These students would be<br />
