Benefiting Children with Special Needs
and Supporting Public Education

It’s more than a walk.
It’s a festival of friendship.

“This is the 10th anniversary of our event, and I’ve been proud to watch it
grow with each passing year. It’s a wonderful thing to witness so many
people come together for such a great cause. On behalf of Skechers and
the Friendship Foundation, I’d like to thank everyone who helped us turn
a modest pier to pier walk into an enormous festival for good.”
MICHAEL GREENBERG
President of Skechers USA

The SKECHERS Pier to Pier Friendship Walk is co-produced by the Friendship Foundation, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to
providing services and companionship to children with developmental disabilities. Simple activities like attending school, going out
to dinner and making friends can be challenging for many children with special needs. The foundation offers a variety of programs,
including athletics, art, music, theater and field trips, where kids can have fun, enjoy new experiences and cultivate lifelong friendships
in a safe and supportive environment. To learn more about the Friendship Foundation, visit FriendshipFoundation.com.

Stories of friendship.
From the Friendship Foundation.
Trey & Shawn
I have been volunteering at Friendship Foundation for about two years, and I enjoy every event. The friendships and memories
I have made are a blessing I will cherish for years to come. I am thrilled to be a part of Friendship Foundation and all the great
things they do for the community. I got involved with the organization because I wanted to find a volunteer opportunity where
I could interact with kids in a fun environment. I then heard about Friendship Foundation and thought I would try it. I now try
to volunteer as much as possible. My favorite program to volunteer for is Movie Night. We play games, watch a movie and eat
pizza all while making new friends. It’s so cool seeing every kid feel more comfortable in their own skin. It is such a rewarding
experience, and I would encourage everyone to try and volunteer at Friendship Foundation!
The bond I have with each of my buddies is so amazing. Seeing them smile and playing with friends in a welcoming environment
is a feeling like no other. I met Sean at Movie Night #3. We usually play air hockey, foosball, basketball and various card games right
before we watch a fun movie together. Sean is so much fun to be around and full of energy. When I volunteer, I have just as much
fun as my buddy! These relationships are extremely important to me, and I will never forget these friends for as long as I live. — Trey

Joei & Layla
I am proud to say I started with Friendship Foundation the same year they started Camp Got Friends. I enjoy all the different
activities and events the Friendship Foundation has to offer. Watching the kids become comfortable around you and accept
you as a friend is the best feeling ever. I can’t see myself spending the summers with a better group of people than those
at the Friendship Foundation. They truly are my second family. The staff is beyond amazing, but the kids are what keep me
coming back. I know all the people and friends I meet here will continue to teach me to be a better person. Volunteering at
the Friendship Foundation has been an amazing journey, and I am honored to be a part of it.
The first time I met Layla was her first time participating at Camp Got Friends. She was shy in the beginning. Luckily, she really
enjoyed dance class, and it became one of our favorite activities together. We both love to dance and listen to music. Layla has
the sweetest smile and is a great dancer. We had so much fun during that week. Camp ended with a big carnival. We won lots
of prizes at the game booths, and we ate lots of cotton candy and shaved ice. I am glad we became friends during the summer,
and I can’t wait to see her at the next program. — Joei

Money for education
is money for our future.
Public schools continue to suffer from state budget cuts. We continuously see teachers being laid off and crucial programs
cut, which ultimately compromises the quality of our schools. The SKECHERS Pier to Pier Friendship Walk aims to improve
children’s academic and professional futures by supporting education directly.

Schools need our help.
It’s a lesson we’ve learned.
The SKECHERS Friendship Walk helps save teachers’ jobs, retain vital educational programs, maintain smaller class sizes,
improve libraries and upgrade school technology. The end goal is simple: academic excellence.
Libraries
STEM
“These funds help reach every child every day,
with programs like PE, science lab, counseling and
professional development for our many teachers.
These funds are used across the district, and
without the funds from the SKECHERS Walk,
we might not be able to sustain our programs.”
Hats off to the
Skechers Foundation
Scholarship Program.
In addition to helping children with special needs, the SKECHERS Friendship Walk benefits the Skechers Foundation
and its blossoming scholarship program.
The SKECHERS Foundation exists to strengthen communities all over the country through our greatest asset: children.
The goal of the foundation is simply to inspire and support young students so they can thrive.
In 2016, the SKECHERS Foundation launched its first-ever scholarship program in a successful effort to expand the
organization’s capabilities. Just one year later, in 2017, the SKECHERS Foundation was thrilled to provide $100,000 in
scholarship funds to high school seniors nationwide. So far, we’ve made higher learning a reality for 24 students, and
we look forward to increasing that number in the years to come.

“Thank you again for the AWESOME opportunity you have given me to
attend University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. By receiving the SKECHERS
scholarship, and additional academic and general scholarships, I was able
to fully fund my first year at this private school. My freshman year at UMHB
has been amazing–filled with challenging classes, wonderful friends and
an opportunity to play college baseball! THANK YOU AGAIN!”
HUNTER MCQUARY
Scholarship Recipient, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor
“The SKECHERS Scholarship Program has allowed me to truly explore and
satiate my academic curiosity. With their help, I was able to participate
in many programs, from backpacking in the Utah Red Rocks to visiting
businesses in Italy. At Penn, I’ve participated in many different clubs to give
me exposure to possible career paths and as a way to meet new people.
I am immensely grateful for these opportunities.”
SHERYL CHEN
Scholarship Recipient, University of Pennsylvania

Not to drop names, but many
of our friends are celebrities.
“I’ve been a part of this walk for two years now, and there’s nothing like it. It galvanizes us to come together and make
a difference in children’s lives. It really highlights the great optimism in all of us and the power we have when we organize
for good. I hope this walk inspires others to do the same.”
