A new school is opening
in Highland Park, but
not a conventional school,
a computer coding school.
theCoderSchool, 1929
Sheridan Road, hopes to
show the next generation
of kids how inspiring and
exciting technology can
be.
theCoderSchool opened
for business Saturday,
April 21, to the delight of
not only future coders, but
their parents and coaches,
as well.
“I think it is great to
teach the next generation
about computers so that
when they are adults, they
will be able to create and
invent things that I cannot
imagine now even after
my 30 years working in
the computer business,”
said Janet Kral, one of
the coaches. “The other
teen coaches are amazing
individuals, some of
whom have taught themselves
coding and gone
on to bigger things than
one would find in Silicon
Valley.”
The school is a Silicon
Valley-based children’s
enterprise franchise and
provides computer programming
lessons to children
ages 7-18.
Long-time friends,
Chad Kreindler and Justin
Brown, both Deerfield
residents, are co-owners
of the school.
“The school will equip
young people with the
coding skills that are in
high demand and applicable
across all industries,”
Kreindler said. “We are

in our country right now,
even here on the North
Shore.”
“We will use a two-onone,
project-based coaching
approach and get
kids involved at a young
age while improving ideation
and creative thinking
skills,” Brown said.
“They will have fun at the
same time.”
The two began working
about a year ago on the
idea of opening a coding
school and looked at different
options available.
“We finally decided our
core philosophy would be
to offer a customized approach
to teaching coding
based on the needs of the
students,” Kreindler said.
“We will find out the skill
set of each student and tailor
the learning to each of
them. Teaching everyone
at the same level is not a
good way to engage a student.”

Kreindler’s background
is in educational technology.
“I have a 10-year background
in EdTech, selling
software, products and
services to schools,” Kreindler
said. “My partner
(Justin Brown) is an attorney
dealing with entrepreneurship,
real estate and
operations.”
It will be a family affair
because both partners’
wives will be involved in
the operation based on
their background expertise
