I personally think she is the best mom out there, but don’t we all think that about our moms? As Mother’s Day quickly approaches, I want to take this opportunity to give my mom a little shout-out so everyone can hear how special she is. When I think back to my childhood and the way my mom raised me, one of the things I admire most about her is her ability to give to others without asking for anything in return. I met my best friend on the first day of second grade. We hit it off immediately, and to this day, almost 17 years later, she is my best friend and a Neighbors From Page 8 The Board made a point of adding a study to the Capital Improvement Program memorializing the Board’s point of view that modeling, study and general engagement with the persistent issue of stormwater flooding must continue. President Bob Bielinski, sister I never had. While my best friend and I were inseparable from day No. 1, she quickly became a part of my family, almost literally. Soon, my parents realized my new friend was growing up in home that was not the best. She was the youngest of five children and her father at left home and moved to another country, while her mom did not work and struggled to make ends meet. My parents took it upon themselves, without anyone asking them to, and bought my friend all of her school supplies through our senior year of high school, new clothes for school each year and bought her food on a daily basis. Eventually, she moved in with us and she became a part of my family. My mom did all of these things without anyone asking because she saw someone in need and was able to help out. As I continued to grow up, my mom was always a listening ear for myself, my friends and other adults. She has always given the best advice. Today, as an adult, I think back and hope to one day be half the woman she is. I am thankful to have a mom, who has turned into my best friend, to enjoy shopping, gossiping, watching movies, sharing books with and creating a lifetime of memories with. Although my mom now lives in Florida, not a day goes by that I don’t call her. She has led an incredible example of what a good friend, mother and wife looks like. Has your mom gone above and beyond for you? Has she been there for you through thick and thin? Has she accomplished something incredible?
