Dear Friends, 

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to our 12th Annual DKMS Gala, 

where we will share some beautiful stories and celebrate another amazing 

milestone: 

In March, we registered our 8 millionth potential donor! 

Not only have we surpassed 8 million donors, nearly 70,000 of them have 

given the greatest gift of all—a second chance at life to a perfect stranger. 

This is a shining example of the power of LOVE, made possible by your 

generosity and dedication. 

At the Gala, we will honor Camillo Pane, Chief Executive Officer of Coty, 

Inc., and Jim Myers, Head of Business Development NA of Burger King 

Corporation, who is also a blood cancer survivor. These two DKMS 

advocates are being recognized for their outstanding support of our work 

to register donors, raise awareness and give hope to patients everywhere.

enduring commitment to advancing our lifesaving movement over the past

Honoree 

JIM MYERS 

Jim Myers is an accomplished and dynamic executive with decades of 

experience heading up team, business and revenue growth at 

Burger King Corporation. 

As BKC’s Head of Business Development NA, Jim cultivates highperforming 

teams and future leaders to drive industry-leading customer 

satisfaction, profitability and growth. Jim began his career 37 years ago 

as a restaurant manager in Cleveland, OH. He went on to join BKC, where 

he steadily rose through the ranks and built his career. As a Division 

Vice-President, he led with integrity and vision, establishing a strong 

track record developing franchise companies across two US regions and 

achieving significant success. 

In June 2016, Jim was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS)— 

a serious blood disease—and received a half match transplant from his 

son. Since beginning his fight, he has become a dedicated supporter of the 

DKMS mission to raise awareness about blood cancers and disorders. 

Recently, Jim was appointed as President of The Burger King McLamore SM 

Foundation, a public education organization that supports local, regional 

and global community initiatives. Prior to his appointment as President, Jim 

served on the Foundation’s board for six years. 

Jim has been happily married for 36 years with two grown sons. Jim and his 

wife, Karen, have a home in Ohio with their dog, Maggie, and he is a Florida 

resident based at Burger King World Head Quarters in Miami. He commutes 

often to Ohio on weekends to visit family. He is an avid sports fan, and can 

be found at the stadium throughout the season cheering for his two favorite 

teams—the Browns and the Indians.

cancer survivor.

CAMILLO PANE 

Camillo Pane is Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of 

Directors for Coty, Inc. In this role, he is responsible for developing and 

leading Coty’s strategic vision, the focus on accelerating revenue growth, 

and its path towards achieving its mission of being a challenger and a 

leader in the beauty industry. 

Camillo is a seasoned business leader with more than 24 years of 

experience gained through a wide range of international marketing and 

general management roles in consumer goods, in both developed and 

emerging markets such as Brazil, Italy, France, the United Kingdom and the 

United States. 

He joined Coty as Executive Vice President, Category Development in July 

2015. In this role, he was responsible for leading the development of Coty’s 

portfolio, category and brand strategies, as well as the development of 

its beauty brand equities and associated innovation pipeline. Camillo was 

appointed Coty’s Chief Executive Officer in October 2016. 

A native Italian, Camillo is passionate about many things in life, including his 

family, his friends, the world of beauty, playing a great game of tennis and 

meeting different people from around the world. 

Coty has been the Founding Corporate Sponsor of DKMS over the past 

15 years. Due to his steadfast support of the DKMS and Coty relationship, 

Camillo is being honored at the 12th Annual DKMS Gala.

Auctioneer 

ADRIEN MEYER 

Adrien Meyer, Co-Chairman of Impressionist & Modern Art, is a lead 

auctioneer in New York, London, Paris, and Hong Kong. Adrien joined 

Christie’s in 2004 and moved to the Impressionist & Modern Art department 

in New York six years later. 

Adrien successfully secured several game-changing consignments, some 

of which doubled the previous auction record for the artist. They are Alberto 

Giacometti’s “Diego en chemise écossaise” in 2013 which sold for $32 

million; Manet’s “Le Printemps” in 2014 which was acquired by the Getty 

Museum for $65 million; and Max Beckman’s “Birds’ Hell” in 2017 which 

sold for $46 million. As a director and strategist for Impressionist & Modern 

Private Sales, Adrien also launched a series of innovative private selling 

exhibitions in Asia, where he gained the trust of today’s most prominent 

collectors. Adrien also rediscovered the private collection of Claude Monet 

and, with it, initiated the first Impressionist auction to take place in 

Hong Kong. 

Adrien graduated from the Ecole du Louvre, Paris, where he specialized in 

Modern Art. He is fluent in French, Italian, German and Spanish. The French 

Ministry of Justice granted Adrien the Commissaire-Priseur license allowing 

him to conduct auctions in Paris.

LOVE. It’s the heart and soul of everything we do at DKMS. Thanks to 

your enduring love and support alongside our amazing patients, 

heroic donors and passionate team, DKMS has led the fight 

against blood cancer, saving lives and inspiring hope around 

the globe. In 27 years, the simple act of love has blossomed 

into a powerful movement that has given nearly 70,000 patients 

second chances at life. These beautiful outcomes are the reason 

why we work tirelessly day after day to fight diseases that never 

rest—and achieve our dream to delete blood cancer entirely. 

Thank you for being part of the DKMS story. 

LOVE OF LIFE A bone marrow transplant was 

the only hope for Anya Le Francis to survive 

leukemia, a disease she battled since she was 

five years old. While DKMS worked with her 

parents to hold drives that registered 579 

potential donors, Anya let her spirit shine 

through. When a donor was found and her 

transplant was complete, Anya proclaimed: 

“I’ve had three lives: Once when I was born, 

once when I beat cancer the first time and 

once when I had a bone marrow transplant!” 

Now that she’s healthy, Anya has a chance 

to finish fifth grade and live a beautiful life. 

She wants this for everyone. That’s why Anya 

is now the goodwill ambassador for Team 

DKMS, motivating our athletes to support the 

DKMS mission at races and athletic events 

around the globe. 

LOVE OF FAMILY In 2001, 18-yearold 

Curize Richards-Godot had an 

entire lifetime ahead of her when 

a diagnosis of leukemia put her 

dreams on hold. Thankfully, she was 

one of the lucky 30% of patients who 

find a donor match within the family. 

Her lifesaver was none other than 

her sister Patrize! This year, Curize 

celebrated 15 years cancer-free by 

hosting Coffee Cupping for Cancer, 

an event to help DKMS raise funds 

to grow the donor registry. Curize 

loves nothing more than spending 

time with her husband and family, 

and hopes that, by spreading the 

word, more patients will get the 

second chance that she got from 

her little sister.

LOVE OF A FRIEND After his good friend 

Oliver Israel was diagnosed with 

leukemia, Noah Friedman jumped 

at the chance to support him by 

swabbing at a 2015 DKMS donor drive. 

Fortunately, Oliver found a match on 

the registry and received a lifesaving 

transplant. But for Noah, the story had 

just begun. In 2017, Noah learned 

that he was a match for a young girl 

suffering from leukemia, and stepped 

up to the plate to become her hero. 

Today, Noah continues to play an 

active role in supporting our mission 

as part of the DKMS Heroes Wanted 

campaign, aimed at inspiring more 

young donors to join the movement to 

save lives. 

LOVE OF PURPOSE In November 2015, Olivier Israel was leading an active and vibrant life as 

a college hockey player, when a diagnosis of leukemia thrust him onto a new and difficult 

path. When Oliver hosted a DKMS donor drive, he was grateful that hundreds of his friends, 

including Noah Friedman, rallied to support him. Oliver found a matching donor on the 

registry, and is getting ready to graduate this spring with a new purpose in life—to delete 

blood cancer. “Leukemia will forever be a piece of who I am, and I will advocate to raise 

awareness and help cure this terrible disease,” he explained. Today Noah and Oliver, whose 

lives were both changed by blood cancer, work with DKMS to share their journeys and help 

more patients win their battles.
