1. J.K. Rowling 2. Eminem
Rowling went through a divorce, lived on
government aid, could barely have a roof over her
head and could hardly afford to feed her baby in
the year 1994. When she was working on the
manuscript for Harry Potter and The
Philosopher’s Stone, Rowling was so poor that she
could not own a computer and the author could
not bear the expense of photocopying the 90 000-
word novel. She manually typed out each of the
versions that was sent to various publishers. The
manuscript was rejected 12 times by publishers
and Bloomsbury Publishing gave it a chance and
published it. Now, J.K. Rowling is the first billiondollar
author.
World famous rapper Eminem is the son of a
fifteen-year-old mother at the time of his
birth. His biological father left six months
after he was born and never returned. Most
of his childhood was spent moving from one
house to another and Eminem was a lonely
child. The rapper was bullied in his youth.
Eminem struggled to succeed in the rap
industry, he was appreciated by the
underground hip hop society. As time
passed, Eminem proved himself as a
qualified rapper. Now, Eminem is a bestselling
artist and Rolling Stone called him
The King of Hip Hop.
