This week school has had a secret visit from Robin Hood, we knew he had dropped in because he left his hat and cloak in
the quad! The dinosaur egg hatched and somehow the dinosaur escaped! Foundation stage have been busy looking for
him as he was spotted in school and then in Bilsthorpe. Keep your eyes peeled for it! Thank you for all the lovely messages
and chats about our new members of staff, Miss Shewen, Miss Springhall and Miss Brock have settled into team
Bilsthorpe wonderfully.
Some exciting news for Mrs Pavier and Mr Pavier: they are expecting their first baby which is due in the summer. We are
incredibly happy for them both, they will make lovely parents. Mrs Pavier will start her maternity leave at the end of this
academic year and will return next year. Mrs Dickinson will start in September to cover Mrs Pavier’ s maternity leave.
You may be aware that the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into effect as of 25 May 2018. This places
some additional expectations on schools and as such we have updated our Data Protection Policy and Privacy Notices in
line with the new expectations. Copies are available on our website and from the school office.
Have a wonderful bank holiday weekend and enjoy the spring sunshine. Mrs I
Wow moments
Preschool- We have been building castles for our toys and painting, colouring castles, some children have learned to say ‘turrets’ aswell as make tall
towers. In preparation for the royal wedding , we are turning our home corner into Windsor castle.
F1— .Children trying really hard to tell us 1 more in magic maths. Having great fun counting different collections of objects.
FSU 2—Dinosaurs have been spotted at school on the CCTV cameras at the weekend. The children couldn't believe it! We then came in the next day to
find out that dinosaurs had been spotted all over Bilsthorpe, one dinosaur wrote us a letter so we decided to write back. We are hoping that he replies
to us on Tuesday. We came into school to find a massive dinosaur print on the floor - we had to use our estimating skills to find out how many of our
shoes would fit in the one big dinosaur print. Can you remember how many it was?
Year 1 –Have had an exciting week investigating Robin Hood. Year 1 have also tried really hard with counting in 2's and 5's even though it is really
tricky!
Year 2 –We are very proud of some children who have tried really hard to tell us 1 more in magic maths. Year 2 have had great fun counting different
collections of objects.
Key stage 2 WOWS
Year 3— Jayden for his enthusiasm in fractions. Ellie, Lexi, River and Milla for extra attention to detail for their homework. Year 3 are trying their
best with their presentation and are all keen to expand their learning.
Year 4—. This week we started our money topic and we have been role playing and using number lines to convert pence to pounds. In English we
have been focussing on our writing targets and ensuring we use them regularly in our independent writing. Hopefully we will see these in our formal
letters we are writing later on. In guided reading we have been studying "Space Oddity " by David Bowie and have drawn a picture based on the imagery
mentioned in the text. In PE we had a go at a bit of dance! We played some fab music and had a go at some exciting routines to get our heart
rates up. We are continuing to read our new book "Manatee baby" and love it! We've just reached the point in the story where the manatee has been
rescued!
Year 5- The planet art work that the children made on Monday morning with parents and Grandparents showed great creativity. The planets look
amazing on our class door. Our class trip to the Space Centre was both educational and enjoyable. We all learnt new facts about the solar system and
the children were a real credit to the school All the children have been working really hard on Mathletics this week especially Harry who is aiming
high to smash his previous highest score. The whole class worked so hard Wednesday morning when we had visitors teaching our class.
Year 6 -Year 6 have really blown us away with their enthusiasm and attitude towards learning this week! Although we are preparing for SATs the
children have enjoyed writing on tables in English, taking part in a grammar relay outside, creating their own mottos to live by (linked with our class
text – Wonder), launching their mouldy bread experiment and using team work to complete maths challenges.
