Conference
INTRODUCTION
Welcome to this, the twenty second annual Fire Safety Conference, organised by the
Northern Ireland Fire Safety Liaison Panel.
The aim of the Conference is to raise awareness in the protection of citizens who
occupy the built environment, by the sharing of knowledge and expertise through this
multi-agency forum
The Fire Safety Liaison Panel encompasses the disciplines of:
Local Council Building Control
The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service
The Entertainment Licensing Officers Forum, and
The NIHE-HMO Unit.
This year our Conference will focus on “Advancing The Fire Safety Message.”
Our speakers have been drawn from various disciplines in the field of fire safety and
include fire safety professionals, fire brigade, product manufacturers and suppliers,
trade bodies, research establishments and fire investigators. The conference will
examine current issues across a range of building types and occupancy profiles.
These will include domestic premises through to large commercial and multi-storey
premises, including those to which the public are admitted to socialise. Topics will
explore facades on high rise buildings, fighting fires in such buildings, responsibilities
of owners / occupiers, evacuation behaviour, forensics- DNA and how
communication is essential in advancing fire safety. The presentations will include a
number of case studies, ensuring the event will be interactive, and will involve
audience participation and opportunities for questions; it equates to 10 hours CPD.
We trust you will find the Conference beneficial, educational and entertaining. Each
year we strive to raise the standards of fire safety and awareness of the need to
consider fire safety in everyday scenarios you may face.
