Mode of action
OptiCell ® shifts important fermentation processes
to distal regions of the large intestine – where formation of vital
fermentation metabolites should naturally take place.
• Increased feed intake at low inclusion rates (< 2%). 1,2
• Accelerated colon passage
Due to acceleration of the colon passage, important fermentation processes
are shifted further to the distal segment of the large intestine.
This supports gut mucosa and has positive influence on water absorption,
resulting in improved faecal quality. The described mode of action also
prevents the migration of pathogens to the small intestine.
• Dose-dependent satiety effect
Good satiety effect at inclusion rates higher than 2.5%
(especially important for gestating sows).
Maintenance of eubiosis
• Beneficial fermentation
OptiCell ® ’s fermentable components are the ideal nutrient for
lactobacilli (formation of lactic acid is 30 to 40 fold higher than with
traditional fibre sources). 3 This is of importance for the eubiosis
in the gut (well-balanced microbial colonization).
Furthermore ammonia formation in the intestine is reduced. 4
