Boerewors<br />
Boerewors is a type of sausage which originated in South Africa, it’s an<br />
important part of South African cuisine and is popular across Southern<br />
Africa. The name is derived from the Afrikaans words boer (“farmer”) and<br />
wors (“sausage”). Boerewors must contain at least 90 percent meat, and<br />
always contain beef, as well as lamb, pork, or a mixture of lamb and pork.<br />
The other 10% is made up of spices and other ingredients. Not more than<br />
30% of the meat content may be fat. Boerewors may not contain any<br />
“mechanically recovered” meat (meat derived through a process where<br />
meat and bone are mechanically separated).<br />
HOW TO BRAAI BOEREWORS<br />
Boerewors should be braaied medium. You want it at the point of maximum<br />
moisture without any of the meat still being pink. Unlike steak, you will<br />
need to turn it a few (3-5) times to achieve perfection. Not enough<br />
turning can result in burning or bursting the skin. When braaing boerewors<br />
in a closed grid, turning is no problem.<br />

how to choose a gas geyser<br />
The following must be examined and determined when<br />
selecting the correct gas geyser for your application:<br />
1. Distance: The distance the warm water pipe runs<br />
from your geyser to the shower / bath / sink. The<br />
shorter the distance, the better.<br />
2. Hot water pipe: The hot water pipe MUST be 15mm<br />
only. Never set up with a larger diameter pipe. Older<br />
houses fitted with ¾” piping IS a problem. Maximum<br />
is ½” or 15 mm copper pipe.<br />
3. Number of outlets: The number of hot water outlets<br />
that will draw hot water from your geyser, i.e. shower,<br />
bath, basin, sink. For a single outlet, we recommend<br />
NOT less than a 16 litre geyser with a maximum hot<br />
water running distance of 10 meters. For a sink fair<br />
distance away from the bathroom we recommend<br />
that a 5.5 litre unit is installed above the sink. This<br />
will save water and is instantly hot. The 5.5 litre unit<br />
can operate from a 3 kg cylinder with ease with no<br />
installation required.<br />
4. Water pressure: This factor is of essence. A 20 litre<br />
geyser requires at least constant water pressure of<br />
1.5 Bar to operate at maximum capacity (20 litres per<br />
minute) at a temperature increase from ambient to<br />
32 degree Celsius. In-line pumps must not deliver a<br />
higher pressure than 8 Bar<br />

GAS GEYSER TYPES EXPLAINED<br />
1. Type A. Natural Exhaust unit. This Is a unit fitted with an ODS (Oxygen Depletion Sensor) It therefore does NOT require a<br />
flue. The ODS will switch the unit off if the CO levels reach 200 ppm and the Oxygen value not lower than 18. The largest<br />
size available is a 5.5 L as the maximum heat rated input does not exceed 11.7 kW or 42 MJ. Unit is perfect for above sink<br />
installation, as it can operate with a 3 kg. cylinder which can fit below the basin (or just outside sink if no space inside)<br />
saving water. A sink normally requires a higher water temperature, saving resetting all the time. This unit needs no flue<br />
and looks neat above the Zink. NO installation and COC needed. Also in demand for Mobile homes, Off-Road trailers<br />
and Camping. (See the portable Genie as well – portable dual function unit)<br />
2. Type B. Natural Exhaust unit. This is used primarily for indoor installations MUST be flued to the outside (can also be<br />
installed on the outside under protective cover). It is fitted with a Flue sensor on the flue diverter. This causes the unit to<br />
switch off within the required 4 minutes if no flue is fitted, dislocated or if the flue is blocked. (For safety reasons.) If installed<br />
outside, the flue MUST be fitted or else it will also shut down within 4 minutes. Battery operated ignition. Starts instantly<br />
when hot water tap is opened and shuts down when closed. This type can also have a fan assisted combustion system,<br />
which is very economical and reaches far higher temperatures than the Natural exhaust units. CAREFUL: NOTE MUST BE<br />
TAKEN REGARDING THE INSIDE INSTALLATION. NOTE SANS 1539-2017 on room sizes and permanent cross ventilation. (See<br />

About Stainless Steel<br />
Stainless steel is a low carbon steel which contains a minimum of 10,5% chromium by weight. It is this addition of chromium that gives the<br />
steel its unique stainless, corrosion resisting properties. The chromium content of the steel allows the formation of an invisible film of chromium<br />
oxide on the steel surface. It is this film that creates the corrosion resistant barrier and even if damaged mechanically or chemically, this film<br />
is self-healing, provided that oxygen is present. This process is known as passivating. There are numerous grades of stainless steel available<br />
and it is important to understand these grades to make an informed decision.<br />
Grade 430 – Has a slightly higher carbon content than type 304 and more corrosion resistant than the lower forms of stainless steel due to the<br />
chromium content of 18% and small nickel content (0.75%). Good formability, but with reduced temperature and corrosion resistance. Nonmagnetic<br />
in annealed form, slightly magnetic when cold formed.<br />
Grade 304 – One of the most widely used and oldest of the stainless steels. This was originally called 18-8 which stood for its chromium (18%)<br />
and nickel (8%) content. It possesses an excellent combination of strength, corrosion resistance and formability. It is an austenite steel and is<br />
non-magnetic.<br />
Grade 316 – This austenitic stainless steel has an added molybdenum (2%) content to increase its resistance to corrosion. This was originally<br />
called 18-10 which stood for its chromium (18%) and nickel (10%) content. This grade of stainless steel comes at a high cost and is expensive<br />
for everyday applications. This material is excellent for maritime use.<br />

BEFORE FIRST USE<br />
Remove all packaging and labels, wash your Chef<br />
Enamel cookware in warm soapy water, rinse well<br />
and dry thoroughly. Your Chef cookware is now<br />
ready to use.<br />
HEAT SOURCES<br />
The Chef Enamel cookware range allows you to<br />
stew, braise, simmer or bake with total versatility on<br />
any heat source, including induction, gas, electric,<br />
ceramic, oven, grill and open fire heat sources.<br />
Follow the manufacturer’s instruction guide when<br />
using your Chef cookware on a glass stovetop.<br />
COOKING HEAT<br />
The Chef Enamel Cast Iron cookware range allows<br />
even heat distribution and efficient heat retention,<br />
eliminating the need to use high heat. Medium or low<br />
heat will provide the best results for cooking.<br />
High heat should never be used to preheat Enamel<br />
Cookware. Due to cast iron’s heat retention feature,<br />
high heat may cause food to burn or stick. Never<br />
place your hot enamel cookware directly on an<br />
unprotected surface.<br />
UTENSILS<br />
Wooden, heat-resistant plastic and silicone tools are<br />
best to use. Metal spoons may be used to dish up,<br />
but should not be scraped over the surface of your<br />
cookware as this may damage the enamel coating.<br />
Do not knock metal utensils on the rim of your Chef<br />
Enamel cookware. Electric or battery-operated<br />
beaters should be avoided.<br />
CLEANING AND CARE<br />
Remove acidic foods and clean your Chef Enamel<br />
cookware immediately after cooking to prevent<br />
damage to the coating. After use allow your<br />
cookware to cool before cleaning. Sudden cooling<br />
may result in thermal shock and damage to the<br />
enamel. To remove food residue, fill your cookware<br />
with warm soapy water and allow to soak for 20<br />
minutes before cleaning. Always clean your Chef<br />
Enamel cookware with warm soapy water and a soft<br />
nylon sponge. Rinse and dry your enamel cookware<br />
thoroughly after cleaning. Avoid using metal pads /<br />
sponges and harsh abrasive cleaning agents at all<br />
times. Your Chef Enamel cookware is dishwashers<br />

The patented Cobb cooking system grills, fries, bakes, smokes, boils and warms. This unique light-weight<br />
cooking system is simple to use and maintain. The Cobb’s unique design allows fat and grease to drain away<br />
from the food that is cooking and into the moat for healthier cooking.<br />
As the fat does not land on the coals, the Cobb cooking system is virtually smokeless and can be used in<br />
small well ventilated areas such as balconies without causing a smoky environment.<br />
Ventilation through the holes of the Dome allows for even distribution of heat, allowing food to cook to<br />
perfection.<br />
Made from the highest quality durable materials, the Cobb has no moving parts allowing a safe and easy<br />
cooking experience, allowing you to cook on boats and in other such places without concern due to<br />
the secure and sturdy design. Added to this the Cobb can be easily dismantled and<br />
placed into a dishwasher for cleaning convenience.<br />
This highly portable grill weighs only 4 kg (8.8 lbs) and has a height of<br />
30 cm (12 inches) and diameter of 30 cm (12 inches). While searing<br />
hot on the inside, the base remains cool to touch on the outside and<br />
can be picked up and moved around while cooking. The Cobb is very<br />
fuel efficient and an environmentally greener option as it uses only<br />
8-10 briquettes / 1 CobbleStone or 400 grams charcoal for up to two<br />
hours of cooking.<br />
