If one is cruising down
the Pacific Coast Highway
on a Tuesday night, consider
zooming over to enjoy Taco
Sushi Tuesday specials at
Malibu’s Zooma Sushi and/
or the street tacos at the adjacent
Coral Beach Cantina.
From 5-9 p.m. every
Tuesday, Zooma Sushi offers
$4 spicy tuna or tuna sushi
tacos, or a Point Dume,
Fire, or Double Trouble half
sushi roll for $8.25 each.
Across the patio at the
Coral Beach Cantina, one
can enjoy $1.50 fish, picadillo,
chicken Tinga or veggie
tacos.
“We come to the cantina
fairly regularly,” customer
Marlene Auerbach said.
“We love this restaurant
and we are so happy it has a
dog-friendly patio. The food
is consistently delicious.
This is the only Mexican
restaurant I will go to!”
There is nothing like a
lovely patio with beautiful
foliage to put one in a relaxed
mood. On Tuesdays,
the Cantina offers $6 margaritas,
imported beers for
$3.50 and domestic beers
for $2.75.
Not to be outdone, Zooma
Sushi offers $4 sake bombs.
The vibe comes alive as
the two juxtaposed establishments
fill up with patrons.
Those who want sushi or an
item from the Zooma Sushi

selection from the Cantina’s
expansive menu options.
Taco Tuesdays are particularly
wonderful because
the restaurants provide excellently
priced fare and libations.
The chicken Tinga taco
features Chipotle aioli, avocado
and red cabbage, while
the picadillo taco features
ground beef, potatoes and
onions. The vegetarian taco
features seasoned onions,
zucchini, peppers, asparagus
and mushrooms. The
panko-breaded fish tacos
are also a crowd-pleaser.
If one cannot decide
which variety to try, it costs
$6 to get a plate with one of
each taco variety.
All four homemade street
taco options are full of flavor
and zest, but none are
overly spicy.
“Our chef Paulino Garcia
created our street taco
recipes and they are made
in house from scratch,” said
Randall Miod, a manager of
both establishments. “This
is a nice place for locals to
gather on a Tuesday night
and to sit on the patio and
to enjoy either the Mexican
tacos or Zooma Sushi’s fish
sushi tacos made by chefs
Toshi and Koi.”
“The spicy sushi tuna
taco is wrapped in a crispy
corn tortilla with Giozo leaf,
green onions and daikon
radishes,” Miod said. “Both
that sushi taco and the tuna
sushi taco are excellent.”
