When I was young<br />
I gave out smiles<br />
Like they were flowers<br />
And everyone was my love.<br />
When I was young<br />
I saw the world<br />
As a catalog<br />
Of endless possibilities.<br />
When I was young<br />
I was sure<br />
Life would be worth it.<br />
But that was then<br />
And this is now.<br />

Some people criticize me<br />

Or as happy<br />
As they’d like me to be.<br />
But you can’t blame me for being empty<br />
When you’re the one<br />
That emptied me.<br />
The kaleidoscope<br />
Of my childhood<br />
Gave way to the monochrome<br />
