ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS FROM THE HUMBUG
The persons who made this event happen are too numerous to appropriately
demonstrate my gratitude here, but I would like to thank:
First and foremost, my family and my beautiful and loving partner and friend. Cassie.
Without your support and understanding I would have most certainly given up on this
quest years ago. I promise not to miss another birthday for a Doin’s…..without your
permission.
Margaret Jaenke and her wonderful staff at Hamilton Museum and Ranch
Foundation for taking the time to share their history with me.
Mike “Doc” Johnson for writing this history masterfully, his support and guidance
over the years, and his willingness to co-sponsor a candidate as blind as I was.
Michael “Dr. Coleman” Smith for keeping me on track and for an inspired plaque
design.
“Unkl” Dave Dutcher for his continuing support.
Tim Connacher for his transcendent printing abilities and for being a sage sounding
board for this Noble Grand Humbug.
Neal Samson for getting porta-potties on site and organizing the overhaul of the
Cookshack Trailer.
Scott “Scootertrash” Wall for his astute advice, for keeping me to deadlines, and
for getting the concrete donated for the monument.
Karl “Pretty Boy” White for his sage advice and for keeping me well informed of the
nuances that are oft overlooked for events such as this one.
And I would like to posthumously thank:
“Turbo” Dave Hicks for being both my Hangman and a shining example of how a
Noble Grand Humbug should carry himself.
Bill “Wheelz” Gilbert for being Postmaster General and a great Uncle, and for always
being willing to laugh at himself as much as he laughed at the rest of us.
“Handsome" Tommy Gorring for being a source of amusement and comic relief for
all who were near.
Lastly, thank you Red-Shirted Brother! Without your enthusiasm and desire to part
with your hard-earned money these fine events would be impossible.
SATISFACTORY!
