5 Days/4 Nights<br />

Day 1: Rome<br />

• Arrival in Rome by own means and free lunch.<br />

• Guided Visit to Musei Vaticani where Raffaello frescoed <strong>the</strong> Stanze Vaticane: four rooms commissioned by Pope Giulio<br />

II and by Pope Leone X. These wonderful rooms are a masterpiece of art expression: Stanza della Segnatura, Stanza di<br />

Eliodoro, Stanza dell’incendio di Borgo and Sala di Costantino.<br />

• Tour inside <strong>the</strong> museum continues with <strong>the</strong> visit of Loggia di Raffaello, Prima Loggia and Loggetta del Cardinal Bibbiena<br />

with amazing frescos before moving to <strong>the</strong> Pinacoteca Vaticana with Raffaello’s paintings like Madonna di Foligno, La<br />

Trasfigurazione, Pala degli Oddi, Pala Baglioni and Arazzi (tapestries) drawn by <strong>the</strong> artist.<br />

• Visit to Basilica di San Pietro, <strong>the</strong> heart of Vatican City.<br />

• Free dinner and overnight.<br />

Day 2: Rome<br />

• Guided Visit to Galleria Borghese where more Raffaello’s masterpieces are preserved: Deposizione Borghese, a<br />

dismembered part of Pala Baglioni, Ritratto Virile and Dama col Liocorno.<br />

• Guided visit to Chiesa di Santa Maria del Popolo with its wonderful Cappella Chigi: it was commissioned to Raffaello by<br />

Agostino Chigi and <strong>the</strong> artist designed <strong>the</strong> architecture and drew <strong>the</strong> decoration of <strong>the</strong> cupola.<br />

• Lunch in a restaurant in <strong>the</strong> centre with typical roman dishes.<br />

• Guided visit to Villa Farnesina, one of <strong>the</strong> most noble creation of <strong>the</strong> Renaissance: frescoed by Raffaello with paintings<br />

inspired to classical myths.<br />

• Guided visit to Chiesa di Sant’Agostino with its fresco Profeta Isaia by Raffaello and to Chiesa di Santa Maria della Pace<br />

where you can admire <strong>the</strong> fresco Sibille e Angeli by Raffaello.<br />

Day 3: Rome › Urbino (290 km)<br />

• Breakfast and transfer to Urbino by own means around 7.30 am.<br />

• Free lunch and meeting with guide in <strong>the</strong> early afternoon. Urbino is Raffaello’s birthplace: here <strong>the</strong> artist lived his<br />

adolescence and his first contacts with art, passed on from his fa<strong>the</strong>r, also a painter, Giovanni Santi. Urbino was very<br />

important for his art formation because in that period Urbino was <strong>the</strong> most important artistic centre.<br />

• Guided visit to Palazzo Ducale, a masterpiece of architecture due to great artists such as Maso di Bartolomeo, Luciano<br />

Laurana and Francesco di Giorgio Martini where in XV century Federico Da Montefeltro expressed his power.<br />

• Stop at <strong>the</strong> Galleria Nazionale delle Marche inside Palazzo Ducale, an art collection including La Muta, a portrait made<br />

by Raffaello.<br />

• Visit to Casa Raffaello where <strong>the</strong> artist was born on March, 28th 1483. Here you can find Madonna di Casa Santi, by<br />

Raffaello and objects connected with <strong>the</strong> painter as sketch for his monument, copies of his paintings, homages from<br />

o<strong>the</strong>r artists to <strong>the</strong> Italian painter.<br />

• Free dinner in Urbino and overnight.<br />
