SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL: LONDON<br />

Returning for its sixth year, the<br />

Sundance Film Festival: London takes<br />

place from 31 May-3 June at<br />

Picturehouse Central.<br />

The festival will present 12 feature films<br />

from this year’s Sundance Film Festival in<br />

Park City, Utah, USA, opening with the UK<br />

premiere of Jennifer Fox’s The Tale, starring<br />

Laura Dern and Elizabeth Debicki.<br />

This year’s programme champions<br />

female voices, with seven out of the 12<br />

films directed by women, including<br />

Desiree Akhavan’s The Miseducation of<br />

Cameron Post; Skate Kitchen, an original<br />

tale of female skateboarders by Crystal<br />

Moselle; and Augustine Frizzel’s comic<br />

debut, Never Goin’ Back.<br />

In an exclusive strand ‘Films That<br />

Made Me’, three of the festival’s featured<br />

directors – Jennifer Fox, Debra Granik<br />

and Desiree Akhavan – will each<br />

introduce a film that has personally<br />

inspired them. They will also give further<br />

insight into their influences and careers in<br />

this year’s ‘In Conversation’ event.<br />

The festival will also host the UK<br />

premieres of First Reformed, written and<br />

directed by legendary filmmaker Paul<br />

Schrader (screenwriter Taxi Driver, Raging<br />

Bull) and starring Ethan Hawke, and<br />

Yardie – Idris Elba’s directorial debut.<br />

It closes on 3 June with the UK<br />

premiere of Leave No Trace, Debra<br />

Granik’s highly anticipated follow-up to<br />

Winter’s Bone.<br />
