The <strong>Broad</strong> <strong>Ripple</strong> <strong>Village</strong> Association is a membership-based organization that<br />
strives to encourage a spirit of community cooperation in <strong>Village</strong> development and<br />
beautification, as well as serve as a liaison between our vibrant north side<br />
neighborhood and the administration of the City of Indianapolis. The BRVA has<br />
several committees that work on projects focusing on public safety, beautification,<br />
strategic planning, and land use and development. The names of businesses,<br />

ENTERTAINMENT ZONE<br />
Step into the sunshine and enjoy <strong>Broad</strong> <strong>Ripple</strong>’s natural beauty. The <strong>Broad</strong><br />
<strong>Ripple</strong> community provides runners, walkers, rollerbladers, and bikers an<br />
ideal location to begin or end an outdoor adventure. You can travel south<br />
to Downtown Indy or north to neighboring Carmel via the Monon Trail.<br />
The historic Central Canal Towpath connects to Butler University, the<br />
Indianapolis Museum of Art, and points beyond. The more adventurous<br />
outdoor lovers can rent kayaks and sporting gear to take on the White River,<br />
or can jump into a pickup game of basketball or football in <strong>Broad</strong> <strong>Ripple</strong> Park.<br />
The park offers a wide variety of programs, including swimming, exercise<br />
classes, and other health and wellness activities for all ages. For those who<br />
have four-legged canine friends, there is a popular dog park on site, as well.<br />
Enter the City’s number one entertainment hub. <strong>Broad</strong> <strong>Ripple</strong> <strong>Village</strong><br />
enjoys a vibrant street life, both day and night. It’s the place to go<br />
with family or friends. You can enjoy live music, play a friendly game<br />
of darts or billiards, catch a game on the big screen TVs, show off your<br />
moves on the dance floor, or just spend some leisurely time sipping<br />
your favorite beverage while taking in the sights.<br />
ART CENTER<br />
The Indianapolis Art Center is located on the northern edge of <strong>Broad</strong><br />
<strong>Ripple</strong> <strong>Village</strong>, along the west side of the Monon Trail and the south<br />
banks of the White River. Started in 1934 as a WPA project to employ<br />
artists, the IAC offers classes and outreach programs, exhibits working<br />
artists, and sells artist-made gifts. The center’s grounds have been<br />
turned into a sculpture garden called ARTSPARK, which is the site<br />
of an annual event in August called ARTSPARKLE. The <strong>Broad</strong> <strong>Ripple</strong><br />
Art Fair, an annual tradition first organized by the BRVA in 1971, is<br />
held every May on the grounds of the Art Center and the neighboring<br />
Northside Optimist Club’s Opti-Park. The 2-day fair has<br />
become the Art Center’s primary fundraising event, attracting more than<br />
225 artists and 25,000 visitors every year.<br />
Come to <strong>Broad</strong> <strong>Ripple</strong> <strong>Village</strong>, and check out all that it has to offer.<br />
Diverse streetscapes, quaint boutiques, and an active nightlife are set<br />
to the backdrop of public art, murals, greenways, and public parks. The<br />
neighborhood has a unique collection of art galleries, specialty shops,<br />
sidewalk cafés, and fabulous restaurants. There is something for everyone<br />
in The <strong>Village</strong>. All of these amenities, along with the individuality and<br />
creative spirit of the area, contributed to <strong>Broad</strong> <strong>Ripple</strong> <strong>Village</strong>’s being named<br />
one of Indianapolis’ six Cultural Districts. Sculptures, wayfinding signage, a<br />
mural, and map pedestals help visitors identify the area.<br />

BEAUTIFICATION<br />
<strong>Broad</strong> <strong>Ripple</strong> <strong>Village</strong> is a great place to live, work, play, or visit. Part<br />
of the neighborhood’s allure is its natural beauty. Features include<br />
the Central Canal, White River, <strong>Broad</strong> <strong>Ripple</strong> Park, and the Monon<br />
Trail. The BRVA works on a number of projects associated with these<br />
amenities. It continues in its planting and maintenance of several gardens on<br />
City-owned property. Monthly <strong>Village</strong> Cleanups are conducted when the<br />
weather conditions permit. The BRVA encourages everyone to take pride in our community by<br />
helping us to keep it clean.<br />

FARMERS MARKET<br />
The <strong>Broad</strong> <strong>Ripple</strong> Farmers Market is held in the parking lot behind <strong>Broad</strong><br />
<strong>Ripple</strong> Magnet High School every Saturday, from the first weekend in May<br />
through the third weekend in November and in the parking lot of <strong>Broad</strong><br />
<strong>Ripple</strong> Park every Wednesday, from the first weekend in June through the<br />
last weekend in September. The Saturday market hours are 8 a.m. until<br />
12 noon. The Wednesday market hours are 5 until 8 p.m. The BRFM is<br />
a great place stock your pantry and refrigerator with fresh locally grown<br />
food. You can find organic vegetables, fresh dairy products and natural<br />
meats, along with fresh baked breads and pastries. Bedding plants, fresh<br />
flowers and pet food complement the edible offerings. The market also<br />
showcases local musical talent.<br />

BROAD RIPPLE ALLIANCE FOR PROGRESS<br />
The <strong>Broad</strong> <strong>Ripple</strong> Alliance for Progress (BRAP) is BRVA’s 501(c)(3) fundraising<br />
vehicle for community improvement projects.<br />
BRAP’s mission is “to support and facilitate the ongoing development and<br />
beautification of the <strong>Village</strong> of <strong>Broad</strong> <strong>Ripple</strong> through participation in<br />
grassroots and community based projects.”<br />
<strong>Village</strong> advocates generously supported BRAP’s work by funding<br />
enhancements to the <strong>Broad</strong> <strong>Ripple</strong> Avenue paving project making it possible<br />
to install bike racks and decorative crosswalks. These improvements were<br />
augmented by IndyGo which provided bus stop enhancements financed by<br />
the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Additionally, Globe<br />
Asphalt installed $25,000 worth of donated decorative material at the<br />
Monon Trail crosswalk on the Avenue.<br />
Keep Indianapolis Beautiful recently announced that BRVA’s College Avenue<br />
median was selected “Median of the Year.” BRAP will continue to solicit<br />
underwriters for maintenance of the existing <strong>Broad</strong> <strong>Ripple</strong> Gardens and to<br />
expand the number of locations. Responding to community interest<br />
expressed during the Envision <strong>Broad</strong> <strong>Ripple</strong> public planning process, BRAP<br />
raised funds to generate updated drawings of the Central Canal Esplanade.<br />
BRAP board members continue to play an active role in crafting the updated<br />
<strong>Village</strong> master plan.<br />
BRAP serves as a repository for funds to support the <strong>Broad</strong> <strong>Ripple</strong> <strong>Village</strong><br />
Farmers Market and the Committee for Historic <strong>Broad</strong> <strong>Ripple</strong>.<br />
