<strong>JCI</strong> Kuala Lumpur was formed in<br />
1954 by Senator Kenny Ng. The<br />
chapter is considered one of the<br />
oldest chapters in Malaysia.<br />

The Junior Chamber movement was<br />
officially started in 1915 by Henry<br />
Giessenbier Jr. in Missouri, USA. The<br />
JC movement aims to study civic and<br />
business problems. The movement<br />
took up momentum to spread around<br />
the world. It arrived in Malaysia in<br />
1954. Junior Chamber in Sarawak<br />
and Junior Chamber in Sabah were<br />
affiliated to Junior Chamber<br />
International in 1956 and in 1963<br />
respectively.<br />
On 11th October 1975, Junior<br />
Chamber Malaysia was formed with<br />
the signing of a Merger Agreement<br />
between three separate national<br />
organizations, namely Junior<br />
Chamber Peninsular Malaysia, Junior<br />
Chamber Sarawak and Junior<br />
Chamber Sabah. A Protem Board of<br />
Directors under chairmanship of <strong>JCI</strong><br />
Senator V T Nathan, Past President<br />
of Kuala Lumpur Junior Chamber was<br />
founded. This Protem Board was<br />
appointed to look into the registration<br />
of the new organization to be known<br />
as Junior Chamber Malaysia.<br />

1976 Junior Chamber Malaysia<br />
obtained temporary registration from<br />
Registrar of Societies to operate. The<br />
1st National Convention was held in<br />
1976 in Kuala Lumpur. At this<br />
National Convention, <strong>JCI</strong> Senator<br />
George Chang was elected the First<br />
National President.<br />
Some of the very famous <strong>JCI</strong> Alumni<br />
are Kofi Annan (UN Secretary<br />
General), Prince Albert o Manaco, Dr<br />
Lim Chong Eu (Former Chief Minister<br />
of Penang), Gerald R. Ford (38th<br />
President of US), William J. “Bill”<br />
Clinton (42nd President of US),<br />
KeizoObuchi (Former Prime Minister<br />
of Japan), and many more.<br />
