Hampton art awards
The Hampton Festival Art Exhibition attracted
work from throughout the region, plus entries
from year six students for a special competition.
The exhibition was judged by Chris Postle of the
Sunshine Coast, and has been a full time artist for 27 years.
Mr Postle, the painting tutor at the USQ Winter School
2018, selected a work by Karen Danielle “Nature Unfolds”
as the overall winner.
Miss Daneille wins the USQ Artworx Bursary.
Mr Postle highly commended Lynette Hughes,
Nockatunga Muster, Rosalind Mason, It IS Winter, Donna
Mitchell, Two Pumpkins, Di Hanson, Rainbow Flourite,
Lyn Johnson, Having a Res, Margaret Shaw, Spawning.
People’s Choice Lyn Johnson, Having a Rest, Hangers’
rize Frank Mc Cormick, Morning Light.
This year’s exhibition included for the first time
an art competition for Year 6 students. The winning
artist received a $50 gift voucher and five $10 highly
commended certificates.
The competition was open to year 6 students of the
following schools: Crows Nest, Geham, Goombungee,
Gowrie, Haden, Highfields, Kingsthorpe, Mary Mac
Killop, Meringandan, Murphy’s Creek, and Toowoomba
Christian College.
The Year 6 competition winner was Charlie Ruwoldt,
Crows Nest.
Highly commended certificates - Annalise Jensen,
Gowrie, Ruby Pascoe, Gowrie, Kalie, Mary MacKillop,
Nadia Siddans, Toowoomba Christian College.

The hangers’ prize was awarded to Frank McCormick for his
painting titled Morning Light. He is pictured with J. Griffiths who
bought the work.
