The Illinois Constitution of 1848 created Township<br />

government to serve the fundamental needs of citizens.<br />

At the grassroots level, it is a government of the people<br />

- you and your next-door neighbors. With a population<br />

of over 56,000, New Trier Township includes the villages<br />

of Wilmette, Kenilworth, Winnetka, and Glencoe, plus<br />

portions of Glenview and Northfield.<br />

SOCIAL SERVICES<br />

Through social services New Trier Township government<br />

assists individuals and families in crisis, persons with<br />

disabilities, youth and seniors. Services for residents in<br />

need include:<br />

• General and emergency assistance for food, shelter,<br />

utilities, clothing, medical care<br />
