PERSONAL (R)EVOLUTION
Block out fifteen minutes, and start writing about your
best self in the future. It could be next year, or five years,
or fifty years from now. The important thing is to just keep
writing about what your best life looks like. Here’s what you
look like. Here’s who you’re surrounded by. How is your
health? How do you spend your weekends? Vacations? What
surprises you? Do you volunteer? What crazy things have
you crossed off your bucket list? What are your finances like?
Visualizing the amazing life you could have is powerful and
exciting. It can lead to a sense of elation.
Practice this daily, until you feel good about it. And then
think about how your Goal plays into this life. Is it a critical
component?
POSITIVITY, POSSIBILITY, AND OPPORTUNITY
Throughout this chapter, we’ve looked at how positivity
creates possibility and opportunity. We’ve explored how
white-knuckling it through tough situations isn’t the best
coping strategy and how, instead, negative scenarios can
be reframed as positive ones (falling up). I’ve also shared 3
specific exercises for reflecting on what’s terrific about your
life, finding awe in the ordinary, and developing a long-term
vision of your best self, which are essential for achieving a
positive mindset and gaining momentum toward your Goal.
