The Warrior Heir The Warrior Heir, by Cinda Williams Chima, is a very well-written book, following a few months of the life of Jack Swift. Jack is perfectly normal, aside from a scar over his heart from a surgery he had as a baby, but when he skips his heart medication, he feels somehow more alive than ever. There seem to be no side effects, but there’s one: Jack is leaking magic. He is Weirlind, meaning he carries a stone beneath his heart which gives him power. Not only that, he is the last of the Warrior guild. Even in the small town of Trinity, Ohio, Jack is hunted to take part in The Game, a fight to the death for control of a collection of ancient, magical artifacts and weaponry.
