TIME FOR A PERFORMANCE CHECK
It's that time of the year again when you are
dusting off the bike gear, polishing the bike,
checking it over and thinking of the open road
ahead. It has been a few months since last sitting
on the bike and the anticipation is high.
Remembering last time, taking a bend a bit too
fast and the stomach wrenching moment? Or
overtaking that truck on the A38 cutting it a bit
too close? And that time on the M1 when traffic
was at a standstill for an hour and you were
trying to filter through? Missing the opening door
at a close range... Lucky escape!
So how can you improve your performance on
the road and avoid the same type of situations?
Feedback from hundreds of bikers who have
taken the Enhanced Rider Scheme say it is ideal
for bringing the biker's skills up to speed to enjoy
biking more. It is tailor-made training to help
improve risk areas and to give you added
confidence on the road. You also have the chance
to lower your insurance premiums.
Bobby did his training last year: "The scheme
improved my ability & confidence; I was happy
www.direct.gov.uk/ers
with learning to ride but being a perfectionist,
wanted to do everything right e.g. filtering,
cornering, I intend to do lots of miles"
Ben has been riding for a few years:
"I have been riding for 12 years and got
frustrated. I wished to have an assessment to
improve my riding. I was confident on the bike
but there was room for improvement.
I wanted to do the scheme for sometime. I was
given encouragement of what I had done well.
I think more about what I am doing and the
instruction on weak points helped me."
Richard has clocked 39 years on the bike:
"It has been so long since passing my test and
I had no training since. Now I ride defensively,
and I am a better rider. I can do better on
the bike and my confidence increased."
