We have just had a group of students from Poland visit us today and we will be welcoming
another group of students from the Netherlands soon. The party were very complementary
on the warmth of The John Fisher School welcome. Our Sports Day also went
extremely well today and many congratulations to all of those students who excelled.
We will have another action packed half term when we return from the short break next
week with retreats taking place, Geography field trips, the Battlefields trip along with
trips to Barcelona, Nice and Borneo. I am looking forward to meeting the Year 6 students
and their parents/carers who will be joining The John Fisher School family from
September.
Finally, may I wish you an enjoyable half-term break, even if some of it involves many of
you helping to prepare your sons for their assessments.
Yours sincerely,
A MESSAGE FROM THE HEADTEACHER, MR P E MCCULLAGH
Dear Parents/Carers,
P E McCullagh
Headtacher
This is always the term that promises so much in terms of preparing students for examinations,
recruiting new staff and ‘getting things done’ and yet, somehow there is always
far too much to do in too little time. It was inspiring to see so many of you at our school
fete and equally inspiring to receive such positive feedback on what was a wonderful
day. We never take your attendance at our events such as our Art exhibition, celebrations
masses, music concerts etc. for granted, as it is a testament to your ongoing commitment
to The John Fisher School. We will be announcing how much we raised from
the school fete at the beginning of the next half term although the event is not solely
about the money (although it is very welcome!) but the fact that our school community
can come together and enjoy each other’s company.
The examinations have started and we are reiterating to our students that they can
achieve great things. We continue to encourage them to have resilience despite the fact
there might be some occasional setbacks along the way. Even as staff members and
parents/carers we all need that same strength of character at the end of an academic
year, that toughness linked with self-belief.
