I'm assuming you are either
the general contractor or
construction manager.
If so, follow exactly
whatever is provided on the
contract documents and
approved submittals. Not
1000% sure about a detail??
Simple, don't touch it, do not
build it.
Trust me, you might think you
look stupid for sending an
RFI or asking questions, but I
promise you that you will look
infinitely stupider if you build
something nonsensical and it
is rejected later down the
road. Do you have trouble
interpreting the drawings??

Then learn how to read
the damn drawings or
you are in the wrong
business. Or maybe you
are upper management
and deal with other
crap, then make sure
you hire someone who
knows the drawings
inside out and has the
experience of working
successfully with
drawings.

At the end of the day, a
successful project - for a GC
or CM - is one that perfectly
matches the record
documents. Additionally,
having expert consultants
on the project will serve you
tremendously. These firms
are usually hired in
conjunction with the
architect of record to
provide quality control
inspections. They work on
many projects at once
specializing in various
aspects of the project from
exterior facade, to interior
details, to building codes, to
the superstructure, you get
the picture.
