and local subject matter experts who will deliver intriguing and thought-provoking information
to you today. We ask you to ‘work the room’ and meet dozens of new people to exchange contact
information and begin building a friendship. Today’s Summit in San Diego is the third Summit to
be followed by others in Orlando, Florida, and other major cities as we provide principles, tools,
and techniques to return the USA to solid ground.
A Message from the Development Team
On behalf of the Development Team, we wish to welcome all the attendees to the Content of
Character Series Conference (COCS) held in San Diego, California 2018
Over two years in the making, and officially launched last year February 2017, a nationwide
coalition of black leaders and pastors have assembled in this new platform called, The Content of
Character Series (COCS). The overall goal of COCS is to promote the value and dignity of black
America by black Americans. We intend to see the Biblical model, and the power of Jesus Christ,
restored and resurrected.
The plan is to bring educational summits, presented by those versed in various phases of problem
solving, into local communities. Together with local leaders, we will begin a conversation that
can translate into sustainable change. The Summit is a means to facilitate the sharing of ideas,
tools and resources gathered from the collective experience of national and local leaders
partnering together.
COCS plans to travel the United States with these summits. In each location, we will seek likeminded,
Biblically-grounded Christian leaders from all sectors of each city. This includes clergy
and laity, parents and grandparents, worshippers and intercessory prayer groups, Christians in
business, organizations, civic government and public and private education including
homeschoolers. All are welcome.
We are honored that you have chosen to attend this important event. We pray this is the
beginning of a favorable working relationship with you. As we hear from speakers today, keep in
mind that our door is always open for any reason.
We consider this a high calling and opportunity to take a stand together as part of something
bigger than what any one of us can accomplish alone.
Warmly,
The Content of Character Series Team
The Content of Character Series began with a book, Black History in America, Setting the Record
Straight, written by David Barton of Wall Builders. Dran Reese, President of The Salt & Light
Council and Reverend Walter Hoye, President of Issues4Life Foundation, worked for two years
weekly to read, digest and put the entire book into 48 slides that could be used as a teaching tool
for black leaders and pastors.
Next, through Mr. and Mrs. Wayne and Karladine Graves, Mrs. Reese met Pastor Stephen Broden
from Texas, Co-Founder of the National Black Pro-Life Coalition, and they forged a friendship.
They, too, began meeting weekly for well over a year to build a second training program called
Black Americans – Pawns of Change a riveting expose’ - also 48 slides in length - on how black
Americans are being used for political agendas.
Having two great training programs completed, the next question was, “How do we find the
audience in which to train in hopes to turn our nation back to Judeo-Christian ethics?” This was
a God-sized task. Through the providence of God, new team members stepped forward; Kevin
McGary of the Frederick Douglass Foundation of California; Talk Show Host Lonnie Poindexter of
Urban Family Talk Radio in Washington D.C.; Zina Hackworth, Pro-Life Advocate; Radio Talk Show
Host and Producer C.L. Bryant; Pastor Dumisani Washington, Nat’l Outreach Dir. For CUFI; Mason
Weaver, Entrepreneur and Political Consultant and we are adding names every day.
The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s statement from the Birmingham jail, “I have a dream
that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of
their skin but by the content of their character,” became the heart of our endeavor.
How does the Salt & Light Council (SLC) fit in? SLC has worked with churches and groups setting
up Biblical Citizenship Ministries for 9 years and has built an infrastructure capable of supporting
an effort of this magnitude. SLC is a corporate enterprise with 501(c)3 non-profit status. They are
skilled professionals, adept at website design, email marketing, journalism, social media including
a full-service website and Facebook, graphic design, database management, accounting and
operations. SLC also provides COCS with warehousing and office space, media production, and
staffing to handle the initial phases of this launch.
The Salt & Light Council operates behind the scenes with these services mentioned to promote
The Content of Character Series speakers and events across the nation because we believe the
black community will be the catalyst for real change in America. (Staff photo back page.)
We hope to find a steady stream of generous support to continue these efforts and make a
difference in the black community. We give God all the praise, glory and honor.
received a Master of Arts in Bible Studies.
He served as an Adjunct Professor at Dallas Baptist University from 1990 to 1992 and spent
10 years in the private sector at Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO) in Human Resources. He has
He is a speaker for the Tea Party movement and advocates for a return to what he considers
proper Constitutional principles in government and the Judeo-Christian values that he claims
undergird the founding of the United States of America. He supports an individual's right to bear
Walter Hoye II – National Black Pro-Life Leader
Walter B. Hoye II travels around the country and the world, full time, to convey a unique pro-life
message only he can share. He is a widely requested speaker who addresses the "Pro-Life Movement"
with special emphasis on the impact of "Abortion in the Black America", "Personhood" and the "Role of
Men Meeting the Physical and Spiritual Needs of Women". Walter strongly believes … "The church must
be reminded that it is not the master or the servant of the state, but rather the conscience of the state. It
must be the guide and the critic of the state, and never its tool. If the church does not recapture its
prophetic zeal, it will become an irrelevant social club without moral or spiritual authority." — Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr., Strength to Love, 1963.
As a National Black Pro-Life leader, Walter speaks for those who have no voice, understands that
abortion takes the life of a child, an innocent human being, views the woman and child as one and
demands men embrace their biblical roles as protector and provider.
