At the School of Business, Nakamura studied
Peter Curzon began his job as an investment
Banking Analyst for San Francisco-based
Thomas Weisel Partners LLC shortly after
graduating from the School of Business. As a
Business student, Curzon participated in the
Jayhawks on Wall Street program and interned
in Mumbai, India as a financial analyst.
After his internship, Curzon applied at a number
of financial firms on the east and west coasts.
“I chose to work at Thomas Weisel Partners
because of its strong culture and reputation,
and because I knew I would be given as much
responsibility as I could possibly handle,”
Curzon said.
THE EASy TRANSiTiON TO NyC
AFTER SpAiN AND mumBAi
By Laura Wolfe
Before graduating in 2008, Ryan Ingle knew
he wanted to move to New York. During an
internship doing financial outsourcing work for
an American hedge fund in Mumbai, India, he
began laying the groundwork for life after KU.
“While I was in India, I began calling
everyone I could to try to get my foot in the
door at several investment banks,” Ingle said.
He later accepted a position as an Investment
Banking Analyst at Citi in New York.
Relocating was not difficult for the Finance
major. “Given that KU provided me the
“Information technology is not directly related to
finance, but consolidating IT service tasks requires
a lot of financial knowledge,” Nakamura said.
Nakamura hopes to return to the United States
within a year or two. “I would love to go back
to the U.S. and contribute my financial skills and
IT skills to increase profits for the future of my
company,”she said.
“KU is unique because it incorporates the real
business world into the classroom, such as
the Applied Portfolio Management program
and attending the annual meeting of Berkshire
Hathaway,” Nakamura said. “My favorite things
about the School of Business and KU are the
wonderful professors and faculty.”
Curzon works hard to keep learning. “I think
attending client meetings is hard to beat,”
Curzon said. “I’m sure that sounds horrible
to many seasoned meeting attendees, but as
an inexperienced 22-year-old, I think there’s
nothing more interesting than listening to a
company’s management team talk about its
issues while our senior bankers listen and
devise solutions.”
“Through KU, I learned a ton about the
world around me as well as myself. I studied
in Europe and worked in India, met incredible
people and built lasting friendships, cheered
on winning teams and genuinely had an
incredible experience.”
opportunity to live in Spain and India, moving
to New York was a rather easy process. I was
more excited than anything else,” Ingle said.
Ingle has many responsibilities at Citi. “It’s
hard to pinpoint a typical day, which is
something I love,” Ingle said.
Ingle draws upon his education on a daily
basis. “The knowledge I gained in my Finance
and Accounting courses has proven extremely
valuable for me,” Ingle said. “My experience
at KU and the School of Business put me in a
great position coming out of college.”
