Kids Club (K–grade
6) meets at 4:30 p.m. In the
evening, the Confirmation
Class (grades 7 & 8) meets
at 6 p.m. And the Senior
High Youth Group gathers
at 7:15 p.m. The two
evening youth groups have
a tasty dinner together at
6:45 p.m. — sometimes
chicken, sometimes pasta.

On the first and third
Thursday of each month a
group meets in the church
kitchen to prepare food for
the Community Kitchen of
A Just Harvest. They start
working at about 1 p.m.
and continue until the food
is prepared, about 3:30.
All are invited to come and
participate in as much of
that time as you are available.

There are two congregations
that meet on Sundays
in the Meetinghouse located
at 2727 Lake Ave.,
Wilmette. Sunday worship
services start at 9 a.m.
and 1 p.m. Primary family
worship service is called
sacrament meeting and
is held in our chapels on
Sunday and lasts approximately
one hour. All are
welcome to come alone or
bring your family; children
are present in virtually all
our congregations. Before
or after sacrament meeting
there are a variety of other
age-appropriate meetings
you and your children
can attend. A full meeting

Chaloner,
85, formerly
of Wilmette,
died on Jan.
26 in Reston,
Va.
Born in Adrian, Mich.,
Chaloner was the youngest
daughter of the late Robert
and LaVerne Curtis. She
was predeceased by her
husband, William “Bill”
Wood Chaloner; brothers,
Almond Spencer and
Robert Kimball; and sisters,
Marilyn LaVerne and
Fanny Marie.
She is survived by her
daughter, Carole (Eric)
Silberhorn of Ellicott City,
Md.; her son, William
Curtis Chaloner of Herndon,
Va.; grandson, William
Martin Chaloner of
Astoria, N.Y.; and several
nieces and nephews.
Martha and Bill were
fortunate to reside in various
parts of the country and
made life-long friends everywhere
they lived, especially
Wilmette and Tucson,
Ariz.

a longtime
resident of
Wilmette,
died on May

31 at The Vi in Glenview.
She was 97 years old. She
will be dearly missed by
her three children: Gordon
Woods Fairman, Linda
(Gregory) Harp and David
(Tracy) Fairman, and her
five grandchildren: Christopher
(Jonathan Saylors),
Thomas Harp, Michael
Fairman, Peter (Robin)
Fairman and Annie (Dane)
Fairman Aagaard. Fairman
was preceded in death by
her husband of 64 years,
Gordon Percy Fairman.
A lifelong lover of learning,
Fairman was the first
woman to attend college in
her family. She graduated
from Northwestern University
in 1943, earning a bachelor’s
degree in English. In
addition to holding a leadership
position in the University’s
continuing education
program, Fairman served
on the Alumnae Board of
Directors, and the executive
board of the university’s
Library Council. In 1979
Fairman was awarded The
Alumni Medal, the highest
distinction granted to
Northwestern graduates.
Visitation was held on
Thursday, June 7 at Wm.
H. Scott Funeral Home in
Wilmette. A memorial service
was held Friday, June
8 at the Church of the Holy
Comforter in Kenilworth.
