A WARM WELCOME..
There are exciting times on the horizon for us here at
Grand Illusions! Not least with the introduction of our
very first mid-season collection as you will discover in
the pages ahead - our fabulous new ceramics and glassware
just perfect for summer entertaining, some classy
new Indian brassware and wirework and all underscored
by some brilliant new cushions, inspired by the rapidly
emerging BoHo style. Most of this will be arriving this
month, along with many of your old favourites!
This year, in the absence of our now infamous
Dorset Show, you’ll also find enclosed a sneak preview of
our best-ever Winter Decorations - from glitzy jewels to
glamour, from rustica to charm - whatever your take on
the festive season, we know that there will be something
to inspire you.
You may notice a slightly different appearance about
this brochure, this is all part of our fresh new look which
will pave the way for our exciting new website being
rolled out later in the year. As we always say though, you
are our inspiration and your support is at times rather
humbling - from everyone in the team, we say a heartfelt
‘thank you!’ and hope to see you at the shows later on
this summer.

NEW CERAMICS H
ANYONE FOR BOWLS ?
So what does summer mean to you? English men donning their aged pair
of shorts no matter the real temperature outside or a rather more positive
vibe with summer entertaining high on the agenda. It was certainly the
latter that inspired us to procure and curate these stunning ceramic bowls.
There are seven different sizes and each bowl or shallow serving plate
comes in both the Florido or Celeste pattern. Two of the smaller bowls
are also available in the very smart Marinho design, whose stripes add a
contemporary touch to this mix and match collection. Best of all these bowls
are inexpensive and are fine for use in the microwave and dishwasher.

One of the stars of our new mid-season collection is undoubtedly our
stunning new cushions in the spirit of the emerging trend, BoHo style.
We think Indian handicrafts are some of the finest in the world and the
incredible artisans who make these cushions have done an outstanding job
with fabulous accents in stunning colours - china-blue, turquoise, lime to
name a few - we just love them! As these cushions vary in size, we thought
it was easier to include the fillers with them in the price and they will be
supplied already fitted. Also in this chapter you’ll find our take on Indian
Brassware and as you will see, the perfect partner for our Faux Flowers &
Plants. And then finally, for our first trip into BoHo World, we’re delighted
to introduce a new range of woven seagrass baskets. Enjoy!

Well if ever there was a time to consider stocking our wonderful paint, then now
is the time - for this summer our paint, which contains 46% Chalk, will really
be under the spotlight and we’ve hired a top London PR Agency to help us get
this important message across. Why is Chalk content important? Essentially
because our paint is made to an authentic historical recipe, from the times when
the journeymen would travel from estate to estate, making paint with chalk, clay,
milk and packed with natural earth pigments - today very little has changed
except we’ve swapped the milk with a small amount of acrylic medium to
provide longevity. Funny enough, even today it feels like you’re painting with
double cream - rich and creamy yet no need to dilute. The high chalk content
(one of the highest in the industry) makes the paint soft, very matt and chalky
yet perfectly robust, ideal for distressing furniture or on walls where they need to
breathe - there is no plastic in our Vintage Paint unlike in many modern
Emulsions. Best of all, given it is 100% VOC free it is very eco-friendly.
We’re also introducing three new colours - Conifer, Bergen and Oyster
bringing the collection to some 36 in total. Oyster is sure to be the biggest hit as
it gives the collection the palest of Grey s to date, whilst Conifer and Bergen are
a nod towards what is popular right now. To support the PR campaign, we’re
rolling out new A3 Showcards and re-designed Paint Charts and we’ve even revisited
the coloured labels on the tins, to make them closer to the true colour -
no mean feat we can tell you! So these are exciting times for our Vintage Paint.

Our Vintage Paint is perfect for mixing and
the colour opportunities are endless. When
using the paint in this way, do always make
sure you mix enough paint to do the entire
project, as it will be difficult to match your
unique mix a second time. Also, as with all
paints, do ensure you’re using the same
batch number when embarking on a large
project.

A little bit early for some of you possibly or rather late for others - all we
know is that pre-ordering has always been very popular at our Dorset
Show, as despite ordering more and more decorations each year, we have
been known to sell out of many festive lines early on. This is especially so
this year as we have three major shows between now and mid-September.
And what a selection we have for you! We’ve expanded our wonderfully
luxe Jewels so there’s even more glitz, there are gorgeous new colourways in
the more Rustic decorations in‘Viva La Vintage’, there’s more than a nod
towards BoHo with our touches of Mexicana and totally different are the
charming characters in the 100% Wool story. Finally, we’ve taken some old
favourites to new heights - the ever-popular Etched Snowflakes are now
available this year in a beautiful mix of colours and we’re sure that the new
range of glasses with stars will send you into orbit! We’ve something for
everyone this year for sure - it’s our best-ever collection. Fab-u-lous!

VIVA LA VINTAGE
It was love at first sight when we discovered our gorgeously matt Vintage
Decorations a few years ago now - their unique lustre suggests a time gone
by, romantically speaking of course. For this year’s collection we have great
pleasure in introducing two stunning new colours - Teal and Dark Red, just
perfect mixed with our old favourites of Dark Green and Old Gold. The
new Chinese Lanterns shown opposite are the epitomy of Coney Island
meets the Emerald City circa 1950. Also for this theme we have introduced
several new designs in Mirrored Glass and as a nod towards BoHo Style,
a new collection of ‘objets’ that are pure Mexicana - so take a walk on the
wilder side this season. Viva Rustica! Viva La Vintage!

When we first discovered this tiny producer of artisanal glass we were
hooked from the start - he makes the most charming glassware. Little did
we realise that you too would be captivated to the point where some of the
glasses sold-out in the first two days of launch. Seemingly, we also have a
shared passion for glasses with etched stars as they sell out every year too,
so we wondered how about combining the two - and these are the results!
Ta dah! Our new star glasses for AW18 are simply better than ever -
enchanting and more than a little magical, you really won’t be able to resist.
It goes without saying, that handmade glasses do come with slight variations,
we think that this is all part of their charm. Chin chin!
