EXTERIOR NOMENCLATURE<br />

Muzzle - End of the barrel, location of the crown, threaded area on the Navy models.<br />

Three Lugs - Locking lugs used to hold attachments.<br />

Barrel -<br />

Front Sight Holder -<br />

Cocking Tube -<br />

Pressed and pinned into the barrel extension with standard land and groove<br />

configuration/free floating.<br />

Pressed, glued and riveted to the barrel/holds the front sight and surrounds<br />

the cocking tube/cocking tube cap/front sling mount<br />

Welded to the front of the receiver/houses the cocking handle and<br />

mechanism/handguard locking pin bracket.<br />

Cocking Handle - Used to pull the bolt group to the rear.<br />

Receiver - Formed and folded sheet metal, it houses all assembly groups.<br />

Scope Mounts -<br />

Buttstock -<br />

On each MP5, it provides a location and structure for quick detachable<br />

scope mount.<br />

Diopter in design with four apertures for varying light conditions, it is<br />

adjustable with tool for windage and elevation.<br />

Held to the receiver with locking pin (s), they come in fixed, retractable (old<br />

style metal back plate, new style polymer plate and Klausman style 1 ½<br />

longer), butt cap, and folding. It is the position of the rear sling mount.<br />

Trigger Group - Held to the receiver with locking pins and contains the safety selector.<br />

Trigger Guard - Large for gloved hands.<br />

Inside the trigger guard. Pulling it with the weapon loaded and off safe will<br />

fire the gun.<br />

Located on the trigger housing with multiple positions; Safe-Semi-2 round<br />

burst – 3 round burst – Full Automatic. “Navy” selector is ambidextrous.<br />

Located in front of the trigger group, it accepts either 15 or 30 round<br />

magazines and holds the center sling mount (on 9mm variants).<br />

Two position activation, button or paddle.<br />

Ejection Port - Located on the right side of the receiver/case deflector in port.<br />

Handguard -<br />

Fiberglass or polymer/slim line or tropical which is held in place by front<br />

locking pin.<br />
