concern to the local community.<br />
Letters selected for publication<br />
may be edited for length and clarity.<br />
Some letters may serve as a catalyst<br />
for other articles or coverage, and<br />
community leaders and agencies<br />
will be offered an opportunity to<br />
respond to letters concerning their<br />
areas of responsibility.<br />

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their<br />
support of our <strong>12</strong>th annual fundraiser, Boobfest, held at Uncle<br />
Eddie’s Oceanside Tavern Business on Salisbury Spotlight<br />
Beach May 19th. Local<br />
businesses, friends, and supporters pulled together to make the<br />

Michele T. Sasmor, MD accepts the Essex North <strong>20</strong><strong>18</strong> Community Clinician of<br />

Dr. Michele Sasmor of RiverSong Plastic Surgery and Anna Jaques<br />
Hospital was honored by her physician peers as the Essex North<br />
District Medical Society’s <strong>20</strong><strong>18</strong> Community Clinician of the Year at<br />
the organization’s annual meeting. The award recognizes a physician<br />
from each of the organization’s <strong>20</strong> district societies who has made<br />
significant contributions to his or her patients and the community.<br />
Dr. Sasmor has been practicing medicine in the Newburyport<br />
community for more than 15 years. She received her medical degree<br />
at the University of Utah before heading to Dartmouth Hitchcock<br />
Medical Center in New Hampshire for her residency. It was there<br />
she discovered the world of plastic surgery, from reconstructive to<br />

cosmetic, treating children, adults and the elderly.<br />
At her practice, RiverSong Plastic Surgery, Dr. Sasmor provides the<br />
highest quality, comprehensive, safe, compassionate and safe surgical<br />
care. An active physician leader, she is the Medical Director of the<br />
AJH Wound and Hyperbaric Center, a former chief of surgery and<br />
former medical staff president at Anna Jaques.<br />
The Community Clinician of the Year Award was established in<br />
1998 by the Massachusetts Medical Society to recognize a physician<br />
