This <strong>Goa</strong> church has extraord<strong>in</strong>ary architecture and is much revered <strong>for</strong> the respect of S<br />

Xavier. An annual feast is held <strong>in</strong> his memory <strong>in</strong> January. He had also started the Jesuit<br />

2. CHURCH OF OUR LADY OF IMMACULATE CONCEPTION<br />

As the name is, the Church is located prist<strong>in</strong>e white at a height. It appears very white<br />

surrounded by Palm trees. The Virg<strong>in</strong> Mary was blessed free from orig<strong>in</strong>al s<strong>in</strong> with giv<strong>in</strong>g<br />

birth <strong>to</strong> her son Jesus Christ. The Catholic Church teaches that God acted upon Mary <strong>in</strong> the<br />

first moment of her conception keep<strong>in</strong>g her "immaculate." This <strong>Goa</strong> church was among the<br />

very first ones built <strong>in</strong> <strong>Goa</strong> with a bell considered second largest <strong>in</strong> the world.<br />

3. Se Cathedral<br />

This is one of the largest churches <strong>in</strong> Asia. It is built <strong>in</strong> Portuguese Manuel<strong>in</strong>e style. In <strong>Goa</strong>, it<br />

is the oldest and most famous. This church is devoted <strong>to</strong> Cather<strong>in</strong>e of Alexandria or<br />

Sa<strong>in</strong>t Cather<strong>in</strong>e of Alexandria also called Sa<strong>in</strong>t Cather<strong>in</strong>e of the Wheel.<br />

4. CHURCH OF REIS MAGOS<br />

This <strong>Goa</strong> church is <strong>in</strong> the village Reis Magos <strong>in</strong> memory of St Jerome.<br />

It is also known <strong>for</strong> its feast <strong>for</strong> the three wise Magis or the Festa dos Reis Magos.<br />

5. THE CHURCH OF THE HOLY SPIRIT<br />

Jesuits built this Church <strong>in</strong> 1564 <strong>in</strong> Margao <strong>in</strong> South <strong>Goa</strong>. The style of architecture used <strong>for</strong><br />

the construction of this church is Indian Baroque. Ever heard of the Baroque style? It<br />

illustrates dramatic details with motion and exuberance and grandeur <strong>in</strong> sculpture, pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g,<br />

architecture.<br />

National Parks and Sanctuaries.<br />

Dr. Salim Ali bird sanctuary is <strong>Goa</strong>’s only bird sanctuary. In fact, visualiz<strong>in</strong>g a mangrove<br />

swamp is not a very <strong>in</strong>terest<strong>in</strong>g exercise but th<strong>in</strong>k of the mystery it is impregnated withvaried<br />
